"Blue and green should never be seen" was an old fashion rule that was well and truly smashed by the 60's, and Modsters like Francie and Casey made the most of that fab new colour combo.... TNT Francie is in the vintage (not repro!) version of 'Gad-abouts' from 1966 - complete with those GROOVY 60's sunglasses, (I have waited years to find a complete vintage set with the glasses!!!), while her best friend is wearing another favourite outfit, 'Denims On!' from 1967, which adds a spritz of lemon yellow to that once maligned colour combo ...

Yes I'm back again.
However due to my main computer on which I edit my work being struck down with a big bad virus, this picture and all the others I am uploading, were Unedited but have now been replaced with Edited versions. So enjoy and Thanks for your patience and understanding.
I do still hate everything about this shit that is new Flickr and always will, but an inability to find another outlet for my work that is as easy for me to use as the Old BETTER Flickr was, has forced me back to Flickr, even though it goes against everything I believe in.
I don't generally have an opinion on my own work, I prefer to leave that to other people and so based on the positive responses to my work from the various friends I had made on Flickr prior to the changes I have decided to upload some more of my work as an experiment and to see what happens.

This was taken in the grounds of the Dover Transport Museum, which you can walk into and look around the grounds if the museum and gates are open, and this vehicle has recently returned from its trip to Woods Comercial Services in nearby Aylesham: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/34856240972/, and I also saw this vehicle being worked on when I walked passed here last weekend, and as you can see it has also had its "Mouth" re-atached!

Just west of where we live is about 5 to 7 acres of these sunflowers! Not sure of the intent . . . seeds, oil?
The beauty of these sunflowers in full bloom is quite extraordinary . . . and so many in one field with a little cloud drama! One of the blessings of August in Iowa!

One of the rules where we live (unwritten of course but not following opens you up to judgment) is that there are flamingos in your garden.
Those who wish to not be judged have the tacky plastic flamingos which were not good enough for me. Got these babies off of Amazon, made of metal and quite large. When it comes to flamingos we're miles ahead of the pack!
The color will fade but unlike the plastic ones they'll last a long time. UV here in Arizona just eats plastic alive. No need to ever replace, just hit them with a can of Krylon once in awhile and we're set!

Today is Shoogs 3 week anniversary with us.
They say when adopting/fostering/fosterfailing a dog, it takes 3 days just for the dog to decompress and then another 3 weeks for the dog to realize she's been rescued by some nut who makes her wear silly hats, and then 3 months until Halloween.

The rule works with this film too, in direct sunshine anyhow :-), my numbers equal 1/800 s at f16 which is precisely spot on, IMO. However, this old camera doesn't have a 1/800 sec shutter option, so you have to adjust!

Stoneborough, set in the Eagle's Eye pass in the Dragonscale mountains of Central Lenfald, is a naturally a well defensible city. It is protected by steep rock cliffs which form natural walls. The surrounding landscape is broken and rocky, crossed by swift mountain streams and ravines, and covered in dense pine forest.
However, the man-made walls which protect the city had fallen into disrepair over the years, particularly during the period of the Queen's rule.
When the the ambitious new Duke, Eberhard Strong, rose to power after the queen's overthrow, he began a massive project to rebuild and strengthen the walls. Funded by investments in the new colonies and money from the high Lord, the skilled Stoneborough masons have replaced damaged portions of the wall, and added new towers, as well as several feet to the entire height of the wall.
This scene shows a typical section of the wall on the southwest of the city. It shows the addition to the wall, the new battlements and one of the towers. It also shows one of the several mountain streams which run through the city, providing fresh water.
Duke Eberhard Strong is riding out to hunt along a wooden causeway which leads down from one of the city gates, smoothly crossing ravines and streams.

This is only my third attempt at proper medieval fortifications, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
The basic inspiration came from this large and impressive build. I liked but he did with the rock cliffs around the city, but I didn't want to simply copy what had already been done, and I had my own ideas about how the wall should look. Therefore, in keeping with the theme of the LC, I had the idea of showing later additions to the wall. The lower mostly light gray section is meant to represent the original wall, and the dark bluish gray the additions.

This is my Every Day Carry knife, a minuscule blade made by the Columbia River Knife and Tool company (CRKT) and sold as the RSK Mk5. It's not the biggest of blades and while many will prefer a much larger folder it fits unobtrusively in my pants pocket where a clip knife might not. I wear business casual to work and I fit right in. I have also carried it in business suits and other dress up situations. I also carry it when I go ultralight backpacking. It was a gift from my son to me and his groomsmen on his wedding day. It might be small but it does everything I need it to.
