Tanabata, also known as the "star festival", takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, when, according to a Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, which are usually separated from each other by the milky way, are able to meet.
Because the 7th month of the year roughly coincides with August rather than July according to the formerly used lunar calendar, Tanabata is still celebrated on August 7th in some regions of Japan, while it is celebrated on July 7th in other regions.
In present-day Japan, people generally celebrate this day by writing wishes, sometimes in the form of poetry, on tanzaku (短冊 tanzaku), small pieces of paper, and hanging them on bamboo, sometimes with other decorations. The bamboo and decorations are often set afloat on a river or burned after the festival, around midnight or on the next day.
This resembles the custom of floating paper ships and candles on rivers during Obon. Many areas in Japan have their own Tanabata customs, which are mostly related to local Obon traditions.

I see all these photos of the moon shot at ISO 10 million or some such thing using a gyroscopic mount on a tripod with a remote release because "that's what you are supposed to do."
Well, you know me, I almost never follow the rules, especially when it's cold out. This was ISO 200 and free hand.
For what it's worth, I do follow one rule as quoted by John Shaw, "The first rule of photography is this. There are no rules, only guidelines."
Another thing people always do is shoot the moon when it is full. I think the next time I shoot it will be when it is half full or less. For sure no more than 2/3 full.
"Blue and green should never be seen" was an old fashion rule that was well and truly smashed by the 60's, and Modsters like Francie and Casey made the most of that fab new colour combo.... TNT Francie is in the vintage (not repro!) version of 'Gad-abouts' from 1966 - complete with those GROOVY 60's sunglasses, (I have waited years to find a complete vintage set with the glasses!!!), while her best friend is wearing another favourite outfit, 'Denims On!' from 1967, which adds a spritz of lemon yellow to that once maligned colour combo ...

One of the rules where we live (unwritten of course but not following opens you up to judgment) is that there are flamingos in your garden.
Those who wish to not be judged have the tacky plastic flamingos which were not good enough for me. Got these babies off of Amazon, made of metal and quite large. When it comes to flamingos we're miles ahead of the pack!
The color will fade but unlike the plastic ones they'll last a long time. UV here in Arizona just eats plastic alive. No need to ever replace, just hit them with a can of Krylon once in awhile and we're set!

The rule works with this film too, in direct sunshine anyhow :-), my numbers equal 1/800 s at f16 which is precisely spot on, IMO. However, this old camera doesn't have a 1/800 sec shutter option, so you have to adjust!
