A retro 1968 USSR built Leningrad 4 light meter.

I would describe the meter as being an analogue computer, which helps the photographer determine the correct exposure. The top ring of figures (within the dial) relates to the shutter speed, with F stop increments directly below. There is a separate dial for ISO in the bottom right corner.

Break the rules of photo composition

Sunset at Yachats, OR

"Hey Romeo, why do we have to walk over the rusting metal beams with a long fall to the bottom?"

"Rule of cool Juliet. We could've killed ourselves because our parents are part of warring factions in the wasteland, or we could've ran away...which we did. But, to make it a cool escape, we needed to walk over the metal beam. Come on, even you know about the rule of cool."

"That's why you wear the helmet with the bullet hole?"

"Yup, rule of cool."

"You're a jackass."

"But that's why you love me, isn't it?"

The rule of thirds involves mentally dividing up your image using 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines, ......You then position the important elements in your scene along those lines, or at the points where they meet................

Always plug in the earphones when playing the piano, so the neighbours are not disturbed.

"Flowers"

Spotlight Your Best Group

Tiger Lily, flowers hold

Growing in my yard today

Petals coloured yellow gold

Amongst the green as they sway

Sweetly smells aroma pure

Pictured brightly sweet and soft

Heavenly beauty to endure

Windowed views above the loft

Pick them carefully one for one

Lilies fold when daylight parts

Underneath the morning sun

New buds bloom, opens stars

God's the lily of the valley

Praise Him from all fields to cope

Where all angels meet to rally

Insuring us with lasting hope.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

I DO know how to use a tape measure though. This one has measured a LOT of fabric, and people too!!

A Zeiss Ica diaphot Photometer. Shot is tanken for the Macro Monday Group, theme rule. Tried to break some rules at the same time...picture is taken without tripod (70 mm, 1/6 sek, tztz) and no golden ratio...not even 1/3rd in the composition.

She's like that, a bit stubborn, very soft-hearted.

A girl who bothers a lot of people because she's not afraid to break the rules.

A macro Mondays submission on the topic "Rule" - Queen Elizabeth II "rules" her dominions from an Australian 10 cent coin.

A Flickr Friday entry on the topic "Money Money Money".

P&O's latest cruise ship was named by the Queen yesterday in Southampton. It cost £473m and has 15 passenger decks, 13 restaurants & 4 pools. It holds 3600 passengers and 1500 crew and is 330m long. Cruising doesn't appeal to me but I was once shown around one of the ships by a friend who worked on it. Many people living in Southampton do go because it is so convenient, we don't have to travel or stay the night because we are already here.

Maybe I should set up a B&B and taxi service...........

When I went on my first Oregon, California & Eastern chase in 1983, I didn't know that you weren't supposed to have your car in the shot. This is Hagar siding in the south suburbs of Klamath Falls, Oregon. An occasional boxcar was loaded with potatoes here. Hagar had the only Southern Pacific station sign left on OC&E by 1983.

The other item of interest in this photo is the third unit, Weyerhaeuser 310. It was an Morrison-Knudsen TE53-1-4E, like the five that went to OC&E. It had been part of Weyco's Longview, Washington operation until 1979, when it was sent south to Klamath Falls. It ran for a few years in Southern Oregon before it suffered a major failure.

My Tulips must know I'm a photographer...... Rule of Odds/ Rule of Thirds/Diagonal Lines.

I broke the rules here and took a picture but.. special urban beauty? Really? OK the sign is written quite neatly but..? Taken in central Bristol.

"The slide rule is a mechanical analog computer. The slide rule is used primarily for multiplication and division, and also for functions such as roots, logarithms and trigonometry, but is not normally used for addition or subtraction."

This was my father's when he was a young man, younger than what I am now. He's a mechanical engineer and I found this back home in the Philippines when we came home back in March. My brother has his Ping Pong paddle that is older than both of us and I wanted something as old if not older. So here's his slide rule...and I don't know how to use it...YET. Ha!

12/52 - Breaking the Rules (52 Weeks: The 2015 Edition)

15/100 - Best Nature & Landscapes (100x: The 2015 Edition)

Several rules (some are my own) being broken here:

1. Macro shot hand-held - not on tripod as I usually prefer.

2. Used automatic focus - I prefer manual focus for macros.

3. Camera tilted 45 degrees from horizontal - not a fan of tilted shots!

4. Intentionally saturated background colors way too much using Lightroom - when adjusting colors, I normally try to keep colors as natural as possible.

5. "Normally" when using selective coloring, the flower would be in color and the background would be in black and white.

Despite all this, I like the way this image came out!

For Sliders Sunday, completely in line with the rules!
