when Roxy is amused, she is amused!

I'm afraid my flickr time is a bit hit and miss at the moment, because of distractions and other things to do. Christopher is still in Gloucester Hospital. He has a chest infection which has to be combatted before he is fitted with a pacemaker. His heart beat is currently averaging 42. It is very difficult for us here in London as he is alone and is vulnerable as he has learning disabilities. We hope that he will be able to return to his flat with added domicilary care, but we have been warned that he may need to go into a care home.

and indeed for a 4 year old she is pretty fearless on the trapeze . . . she spent the weekend watching Elsie at the Circus on the hoop so wanted to make sure I was equally impressed with her. Such a sweetie - today she graduated from nursery!

Roxy was seven on Monday and we had the second of her three celebrations. The first took place over half term when 5 families went camping which included 3 boys from Roxy’s class at school, Her actual birthday was the second with us and the third is on Friday after school when a few girls are coming to tea. How wise of Abby to have the boy party while camping!

Yesterday the lapatop was set up in Roxy's bedroom and Roxy showed me different things, was in turn a ballerina and horse rider . . .

this photo was taken a fortnight ago (when the weather was nice!) . . . there will be fewer photos of Elsie in the future as her life changes and so I shall try to keep Roxy going so she will have an album of her childhood similar to that of Elsie's. Yesterday she wanted me to take videos which I did - unsuccessfully, so I shall steer her back to stills! She had a cold . . . which after a long period without colds seemed . . .strange, but it is in fact, back to normal!

Roxy is my Black Tri Australian Shepherd female. She absolutely LOVES the water. This is the one activity she looks forward to the most. She loves diving in after her toys and will often just hang out in the water, sometimes doing a few laps or just treading water like she is here. If we are in the pool with her and we dive under the surface she will also stick her head under water and look at us to see what we are doing. I think in a previous life she was an Otter.

while Abby and I were having coffee, Roxy announced 'I am a madam' - which made us laugh . . . but of course I can hear any one of us adults saying to her 'come along madam, time for bed' or something along those lines!

I have been feeling guilty not showcasing Roxy, my sweet hound mix, quite enough on flickr. Josie makes frequent appearances because I chose her to use for the 52 Weeks for Dogs group, but Roxy is extremely special to me to. All of my dogs are special to me, but in different ways.

Roxy came into my life about 8.5 years ago. My sister and I were wasting a little bit of time and decided to go to the pet supply store. That day they had brought in some puppies from the local humane society. I had absolutely no intentions of getting a dog. I was 18 at the time, in college, and living in an apartment with my older sister. But as soon as I walked up to this little black and tan puppy with huge floppy ears, my heart was just stolen. At that time I really didn't have any money and relied solely on my parents. I called up my father and begged and begged him to come to the pet store and see this cute little puppy. I was not leaving the store without her. And I didn't. My dad finally caved in and adopted her for me.

At that particular point of my life, I was not in a very good place emotionally. I was in a bad relationship which seemed to make everything else fall apart. I think Roxy was brought into my life for a reason - she helped "rescue me" and I have called her my Angel ever since. That seems like forever ago- so much has changed in our lives, and she has been with me every step of the way. We have a very close bond - my family comments on how in tune we are with each other. This may sound silly to some, but some of you out there will understand :)

Roxy stayed the night with us and slept through . . . and I slept hardly a wink! She was a great guest.

I don't know what has happened to Corel, butuall my settings have changed . . . maybe a move to make me update, so I am having trouble processing photos . . .

tomorrow we are going to east London, as Abby flies out to Bangkok for work - a difficult job where she as a designer in London has had to juggle makers of her costumes across the other side of the world. So we are over in east London lending a helping hand for an afternoon/evening to Rachel and Ben. Hope Elsie will be well this week and up for a photo . . . last week she was unwell.

By the time we sat down for a drink before the meal, calm had been restored to the east London household. Roxy, who has just started at nursery and who seemingly has no problems with it . . . is exerting her new found independence at home, which makes the adults smile (or sigh).
