I have just today 10th Dec 2013 learned how to create a link that opens in a new tab so click on the Nora Jones link and listen while viewing the image. The original Flickr page will be still open in an adjacent tab so you do need to open that again.

These earrings feature a sumptuous bouquet of gems made of apricot peach moonstones, warm honey citrine, sparkling champagne-citrine, dusky pink rose quartz and coral rhodocrosite, all wired in a cluster using 14K goldfilled wire or headpins. Glistening tassels of 14K goldfilled chains ending with tangerine songea sapphires add movement to the piece. The earrings hang from very sturdy 14K goldfilled ear wires.

Two pieces of Rose Quartz form book ends. Total weight 6.5 pounds.

I love mixing up different gemstones in my jewellery designs and this pendant has a colour palette of one of my favourite colour combinations: pink and purple.

I have carefully wrapped and weaved gemstones around a handmade circle pendant. The sparkling micro-faceted rondelles are purple amethyst, pink amethyst, rubellite garnet and rose quartz.

The soft muted green and pink in this necklace remind me of the Hydrangea.

This necklace is a combination of Rose Quartz, Garnet and Swarovski crystals.

Rose Quartz is said to be the stone of love while Garnet brings constancy to friendships.

Father had quite a pile of rose quartz accumulated in the Black Hills of So Dak. Whenever my brothers and I would see a chunk of it sticking out of the dirt, we would dig it out-sometimes getting a lot more than we bargained for. Several pieces made their way back to Minnesota with us. Father cut rocks for book ends and it appears that he had started in on this one. odc

Chancay Figures - Peru?

Three ancient bronze Chancay family figures with arms outstretched.

Two male and a female,

The two male have hollow body's.

Size, they are from left to right. 50mm 45mm and 40mm tall.

Age unknown... but very old.

I have been unable to find bronze Chancay figures on the net so far so I would say these are as rare as hens teeth !

Any info most welcome.

Pre Columbian - Peru. - Cuchimilco or Star Gazer's

Info : Peru’s Chancay culture settled fifty miles north of Lima in the Chancay Valley between 900 and 1400 A.D. The Chancay people were exquisite ceramic and textile artisans. Cuchimilco ceramic figures are almost always presented in pairs to represent family. Archaeologists have often found cuchimilcos in the tombs of Chancay nobility, as their outstretched hands absorb negative energy.

The cuchimilcos almost always come in male / female pairs representing the duality of God, a belief of the pre-Columbian cultures. These figures, with their extended arms like wings are ready to fly or invite a hug, as if saying, "Welcome, we are here."

Not much is known about the Chancay civilization which developed in the later part of the Inca empire. This culture emerged after the fall of the Wari civilization. Parts of the southern Chancay area were conquered by the Chimú in the early fifteenth century and in about 1450 A.D. the Incas were occupying both areas.[1] It is believed that the Chancay had a centralized political structure, forming a small regional state.[3] Thus the Chancay culture declined in the fifteenth century to make way for the territorial expansion of the Inca Empire.

Occupying the central coast coastal region of Peru, the Chancay were centered mostly in the Chancay and Chillón valleys, although they also occupied other areas such as the Rimac and Lurin valley areas.[2] The center of the Chancay culture was located 80 kilometers north of Lima. It is a desert region but has fertile valleys bathed by rivers and is rich in resources that allowed for, among other things, extensive agricultural development.

The Chancay developed intense trade relations with other regions, allowing them to interract with other cultures and settlements in a wide area.

Why RubyCharm, we are asked?

And we say:

because we design, we don't copy,

we craft, we don't produce.

Because every piece of gemstone was chosen by hand, and full of love, energy and grace.

That is our "because', and there are always more.

RubyCharm is not the cheapest girl in the neighbourhood, and we must admit we hate "discounts' and "deals", as much as we must participate in that game as anybody else. So we mask those with symbolic meaning and have things like "RubyCharm day of Love" when all jewellery made of RoseQuartz is on discount.

We chose our gemstones carefully - for beauty and power. We value our work, and work of our associates. We don't take advantage of poor to buy cheap...So we cannot be the cheapest, but we are the best.

About how our jewellery website works we have published a new article. To read on site follow:

Champagne Rosé is deeply coloured, with a complex, refined fragrance mingling red fruit with very noble developing notes. When tasted, it reveals great structure and a remarkably long finish.

Made only in exceptional or vintage years, this wine has the same vintage structure as Vintage, topped up with 10-15% red wine from the house vineyard at Bouzy.

Champagne Rosé goes well with spicy fish dishes, tuna sashimi, and fine meats. When mature, it is excellent with game birds.

Veuve Clicquot was the first house to export a Rosé Champagne to Switzerland, in 1775. Matchless know-how has made it a house speciality and Veuve Clicquot has been making Rosé Champagnes in the great vintage years since the end of the 18th Century.

Sparkling faceted rondelles of deep pink red rhodolite garnet are wrapped around teardrops of sterling silver wire. Within each teardrop sit faceted coin beads of delicate pink rose quartz.

The Stone of Universal and Unconditional Love.

A few decades ago I built a light box to back-light some crystals and minerals. I wasn't happy with the results and put it away for a long time. I came across it recently and thought I’d give it another try. Still not totally happy, but I'll persevere and experiment from time to time.

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is a song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney that was recorded by The Beatles for their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I tossed in the word Black since this confection of mine does contain Black Diamonds :)

According to the Beatles, one day in 1966 Lennon's son, Julian, came home from nursery school with a drawing he said was of his classmate, a girl named Lucy. Showing the artwork to his father, young Julian described the picture as "Lucy — in the sky with diamonds." And it sparked off the idea for a song. How sweet!

The John Bassett House is located at 401 Fifth Avenue SE in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The house was built in 1902 and is a contributing building in the Aberdeen Historic District (aka Hagerty Lloyd Historic District), which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Horrific pic but shows the contrast between pink and not quite pink!
