The Wire Artisans Guild’s weekly challenge. This week the challenge was “Under the Palms”.
How I long for long hot, lazy days under the palms. Just to lie there in the shadow and listen to the ocean rolling in over white beaches. To let the warm sand sift thru you fingers and dream about nothing at all. But alas, those beaches are rare (not to say non existent) in Sweden. And this week’s challenge set me off dreaming in the most alarming way. I’ve spent too much time dreaming about white beaches and turquoise water. And shells. And mermaids.
still working with lace as inspiration-- in this case very paired down-- a simple eyelet lace flower setting with a large rose quartz cabochon.
Hammered and textured copper with gorgeous Rose Quartz and Peridot. Perfect custom order. Simply beautiful and perfect for summer!

Today I went out for my cigarette break, as I often do, and this woman and her daughter were walking past. Loud enough so I can hear clearly, she turns to her daughter and says:
"Promise me you won't turn out like her."
What?
Excuse me. Backtrack.
I may be overweight. I may have piercings and tattoos. But I am doing SO well for myself and I don't think a lot of people realise. I'm on a 47K salary, I own my own unit, have a long term boyfriend and a great relationship with my parents.
A few differences about me does not make me a screw up, it makes me unique.
I didn't even know what to say to them. I just smiled dumbly and continued smoking.
The prejudices in this world make me feel ill, especially when they're completely unfounded. I have no criminal record and I wouldn't hurt a fly. I stick up for my friends, and am devoted to people I love. I don't think I deserved that.
Today I got my TWLOHA shirt in the mail. A perfect gift to receive, considering the INCIDENT of the day
I have suffered depression. I still do. I have seen the inside of a hospital ward numerous times and spent a long time in therapy to get myself a little better.
TWLOHA means a lot to me, because it's about raising awareness for these issues, and supporting those who suffer as I have, and still do.
I don't think, with charity, that you need to develop empathy for every cause in the world. That's draining. But I do think you need to find something you believe in, and fight for it to the better end. And it should be something close to your heart.
Reason to love myself: Because I am proud of myself, regardless of outside opinion
Reason to live: Because I have the potential to save a life, and should strive to do so.
Flat rose quartz and sparkling pink glass beads with sterling silver spacers make a beautiful way to show your support for breast cancer research. At the end of the chain you'll notice a small ceramic bead with a pink ribbon!

I don't usually 'do' pretty - but I really like how this design turned out so I even created a collection for it, called: 'Pretty in pink'.
