I took this photo in 2011 on a visit to Asheville, North Caroline with Donna. I've always liked these rooftop thingies (vents, scrubbers...whatever!) and in the 1970's used them as the inspiration for many fanciful colored pencil drawings. Shot with a Fujfilm JX400. Effects all added in PhotoToaster.

Wrigley Field is the home baseball field for the Chicago Cubs. It has been home to the Cubs since 1916.

This picture is from the famous rooftop seats accross the street. They can be ordered through Wrigley Field Rooftops. During gametimes, if you watch on television, you can see the rooftops full.

Watching baseball from the rooftops date back to when the stadium was built. People would come out of their apartment, go to the roof and watch the game for free. Around 1990, the owners of the apartments started building bleechers on the top of their buildings and sold tickets. After court battles and attempts by the Chicago Cubs to stop these salings of tickets, they settled on an agreement where the Chicago Cubs would receive a percentage of money for these tickets.

Being bored and wanting to try some night photography - these are the first....

Believe it or not, these are rooftop chimneys at the top of Casa Milà, aka La Pedrera, a historic masterpiece designed by architect, Gaudi. They are meant to look like soldiers or guards.

More description to come soon. I'm running off to work for now!

residential rooftops of my town

One of my friends was organising a Rooftop Slumber Party which ended up in a pillow fight :)

It was constructed in the 1930s--a WPA project, I believe--for use by the national guard, replacing a farmer's market. The national guard has since moved elsewhere, and now the armory has many non-military uses. Downtown Durham, NC.

From the July 4th Party I spun at. Sorry for the fuzzy shot but I was spinning and people were dancing with sparklers, I still thought it was cool enough to look at

Looking beyond the rooftops and out towards the moorlands. Cold December afternoon. St Edwards church tower in foreground.

I don't smoke. this was for a film, and i thought it was a pretty sweet photo.. so yeahh

A typical scene from everyday life, but its easy to forget until you look down from above just how cluttered a man made existence we live, such as different surface textures and street furniture.

This is the spectacular rooftop lounge area of the Sheraton hotel in Nassau. This would have been a great spot to shoot without the standing water, but with it this is definitely one of my favorite shots I've taken!

It's been a while, feels good to be back!

Thanks for looking.

The rooftops are Baruch Houses (NYCHA) and Lillian Wald Houses (NYCHA). The stacks are Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) at E. 14th & Ave C

If you have ever watched the BBC's Top Gear you may be familiar with the opening credits of that show, which feature silhouettes of the three co-hosts. I can't help but be reminded of that every time I have a look at this image. Maybe it's further enhanced by my experiences with the hilarity that inevitably ensues when these 3 fine gentlemen get together...
