Perhaps this makes you think of a panther with a mole, but it is a part of the rooftop of the Parasol mushroom (Macrolepiota procera-Grote parasolzwam). The species is found solitary or in groups and fairy rings in pastures and occasionally in woodland. Globally, it is widespread in temperate regions. Common in my country. © Tom Kisjes

A trullo (plural, trulli) is a traditional Apulian dry stone hut with a conical roof. Their style of construction is specific to the Itria Valley, in the Murge area of the Italian region of Apulia. Trulli were generally constructed as temporary field shelters and storehouses or as permanent dwellings by small proprietors or agricultural labourers. Their golden age was the 19th century.
The Italian term il trullo (from the Greek word τρούλος, cupola) refers to a house whose internal space is covered by a dry stone corbelled or keystone vault. Trullo is an italianized form of the dialectal term truddu used in a specific area of the Salentine peninsula (i.e. Lizzaio, Maruggio and Avetrana) where it is the name of the local agricultural dry stone hut.

This jackdaw was walking along the ridge tiles of house after house with just a couple of flaps of the wings to get between each house . All the time he was making a right racket letting everyone know that he was there !

Even though street-level is my favorite place to be, the fascinating things one sees from a few flites up can also be interesting or even beautiful. Sure, there are umpteen views of nondescript rooftops cluttered with various forms of heating/ventilation ducts, pipes, and conduit, but once in a while you see someone's answer to what to do with a rooftop. In this case, I was delighted to see a virtual garden of lights while photographing the San Francisco City Hall one showery night. I think they did a good job on it and it was fun to compose with it when I was expecting another dark tar roof.
