My sister and I passed by this power plant as we were driving home from the beach a while back. We both found it quite an eerie sight. I tried to bring that mood into this piece.
The Roadside Hawk, which is found from northern Mexico south to Argentina, is one of the most widespread raptors of the neotropics. This one was photographed at Pantanal, Brazil.

Five days ago I posted Colorado River Country, which was taken at Gore Valley Overlook, looking north.
This photo was taken from the same overlook, but looking at the opposite side, south, into the gorgeous Gore Valley and Colorado River.
Yup, it's definitely my type of roadside attraction!!!

I was driving home from an appointment and luckily had my camera in the back of the car. I saw some lovely echinaceas beside the road so stopped and ran across the street to capture their beauty before the heat shrivelled them up.
The Worthington Glacier sits prominently on this scenic highway as one drives to Valdez AK. It's an easy walk to the toe of this beautiful glacier.
"One of the most visited natural attractions along the Richardson Highway, this four-mile-long glacier descends almost to pavement and is easy to approach on foot. Worthington Glacier—listed as a Natural National Landmark—is kept healthy by the area’s extraordinary snowfall. (Nearby Thompson Pass has been known to experience 80 feet of annual accumulation!)." alaska.org

Southern Ontario has a huge population of Hawks who winter over and take advantage of the open farmland.
Many times on a short drive in the country you can easily find 5 or more

This was taken on a busy main road looking towards a large woodland area, the colour was more vibrant on the roadside than inside the woodland that remained green.
Old homesteads can make for a great shot; the challenge is finding one within a visually interesting scene. The Utah spring bloom gave me just what I needed
Persicaria capitata (Pink-headed persicaria, ’Hime-tsurusoba’ in Japanese) is a perennial flowering plant in the buckwheat family, native to central and eastern Asia. It is a creeping herb producing small pink clusters of flowers that look like ’Komepeito’, Japanese popular confetti. In autumn and winter, the leaves also get reddish. Taken by the roadside.
