The next step on England’s “Roadmap out of Lockdown”. Rob and I are still keeping it local by taking another turn around Colwick Country Park, but now that we aren’t obliged to pretend that our getting together is only for exercise we don’t actually need to stay on the move. If we want to stop for a few minutes and enjoy the sunset on this mild spring evening, we can!

These lands are a lot bigger than they ever seemed before the bombs dropped. Now that travel is mostly on-foot, those old road maps can be a lifesaver.

This unrigged attachment is held in two hands, in front with a single animation. It comes with two versions of the map too. One that's mostly clean, just aged a bit, and another that's got some scribbles, notes and some indications of rough times.

Photographs taken using my new RED lens filter. It was a lovely evening anyway, but I liked the red/pink glow and ambience it gave. The headlights are my favourite part in this photo.

In this article, I present a roadmap for applying AI to the field of origami. Starting from what is possible today, I suggest how existing building blocks could be used and extended to bring us to a point where systems can design origami automatically based on user input. This is both a prediction of where things might go and a to-do list.

I'm generally grounded in "as seen through the lens" photographs, but sometimes I succumb to the fun of playing with digital filters :)

I sometimes like the sketchiness and sepia toning of the G'MIC "Pencil Portrait" filter for giving a more impressionistic cast to a photo.

Surviving Adolescence: A Roadmap for Teens and Their Parents

www.child-adolescent-adult-development.info/surviving-ado...

By Calvin A. Colarusso, M.D.

Clinical Professor of Psychiatry,

University of California at San Diego

(12/21/11)

Wouldn't be nice if we could just skip adolescence? You know, those terrible years from 12 to 20. I'm sure most parents are shouting YES! and many adolescents as well. Well, unfortunately, we can't magically skip over these vital years. So there is nothing left to do but make the best of a bad situation. That's what this book is about, obtaining the information to make these years, as a parent or a teenager, as easy as possible and, dare I say, very enjoyable at times. The key is knowledge and an infinite amount of patience.

With a little bit of humor, plenty of understanding and 50 years of experience treating adolescents, child psychiatrist Calvin Colarusso, M.D. provides ideas and examples to smooth the way.

Think of this book as a survival tool for parents and a guide on how to manage your parents for adolescents.

Surviving Adolescence, A Roadmap for Teens and Their Parents provides understanding of inscrutable adolescent behavior and practical suggestions on what to do about mood swings, backtalk, disgusting bedrooms, sexual behavior and dating.

Developmental concepts included are:

• An understanding of the effects of puberty

• The meaning of adolescent withdrawal and secretiveness

• The need for continued parental involvement and limits

• The meaning of adolescent crushes

• When to allow dating

• The vital role of friendships

• Parental involvement in choosing a career

• Do’s and Don'ts for parents

About the Author: Calvin Colarusso, M.D.

An eminent authority in the field of development, Dr. Colarusso, M.D. is a board-certified Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of California at San Diego, where he served for two decades as Director of the Child Psychiatry Residency Training Program.

He is also a Training and Supervising Analyst in child and adult psychoanalysis at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Institute and an internationally known lecturer to students, professionals, and the general public on many aspects of normal and pathologic development.

His six books in print have been published in English, Korean, and Spanish.

Review

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your Average Parenting Book, December 29, 2011

By Liz Hansen - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Surviving Adolescence: A Roadmap for Teens and Their Parents (Kindle Edition)I never had the pleasure of referring to such a helpful book during the teenage years of my eldest son. Luckily we all survived his transition into adulthood, but if I could do it all over again I think I would of done a few things differently if I had a book like this to guide me with some of the choices I made back then.

Our teenage daughter has fully taken on the role of the teenage daughter (if you have one you know what I mean!), and I decided to arm myself with as much knowledge (and common sense!) as possible this time around.

Just by reading this book, I believe it's not only helped me think more clearly on issues I would have reacted to badly in the past with my son, but it also provides sound advice on situations that every parent will encounter with their teenage son or daughter. Highly recommended!

Another set of random shots on my daily walk, but at least it was sunny.

Read a Road Map Day April 5

Today, April 5, is also known as National Read a Road Map Day. This is the unofficial holiday and is a throwback to what the kids today call the "old days" before GPSs.

No GPS?

Roadmaps, or route maps, are navigational maps that usually show roads and landmarks in a specific area. In recent years, the rise of Global Positioning System (GPS) and mobile technology is making paper maps outdated.

How Can You Celebrate?

When was the last time you picked up a map and used it for directions? No, not a GPS or a map app, but an actual paper map? Don’t remember? Here are some ways to celebrate Read a Road Map Day:

Take a short road trip and use only paper maps to guide you. Bring along a navigator who does the map reading and directing for you. If you do not have a navigator, please make sure you only read the map when your car is at a complete stop.

If you have never read a map, take some time to learn to read one. We reckon it will be a good skill to have in the unlikely event of a zombie apocalypse! Just like learning cursive writing, learning to read and interpret a road map is an important life skill. Kudos to teachers who instruct this skill in classrooms today!

Learn more about maps and how they are made. Read up on what a cartographer does!

Did You Know...

...that the Turin Papyrus is thought to be the oldest recorded road map in the world? Historians believe that it was created around 1160 BC.

And yes, I did have grade school teachers who taught me map reading skills. I am thankful to this day for their instruction!

As for this driver, he's a little ahead of the game race as the Indianapolis 500 Race has been postponed to later this summer. Another affect of the COVID-19!

On Wednesday, the President of the Republic of Kosovo,Vjosa Osmani, addressed the European Parliament in a formal sitting in Strasbourg.

“The Republic of Kosovo and its people continue to look to the future - a European future”, said President Osmani and called for more robust regional cooperation. “We have extended a hand of cooperation to all our neighbours and we have done so in large part because our people deserve a brighter future”, she added. To Serbs living in Kosovo, she stressed that Kosovo “is your home. And we will do everything in our power to make sure that you feel protected, included, equal and heard.”

A big day today in England, as non-essential retail re-opened and hospitality can serve outdoors only.

I had to pick something up from Boots, so went into Primark and H & M. It was after work so missed the really busy time.

Some shops are opening later to make up for lost time, Primark is open to 7pm.
