Can you guess where the title comes from?

 

Disneyland's Mark Twain, rounding the bend of the Rio Grande section of Rivers of America preparing to make landing at her berth...

 

True to the Disney way of total immersion into detail, guests are treated to period sound effects as they cruise the river on the Mark Twain. In the days of sail, depth soundings were called out by a "leadsman" who positioned himself in the bow, and threw out a line with a soft lead weight attached, sometimes wax coated to pickup sand and shell on the bottom. The line was knotted to make a visual indicator of the depth, which was called out to the pilot. On the river, the leadsmen would sing the depth callings, like a cadence, and this song can be heard in the soundtrack of the Mark Twain as you enjoy your ride....
