This picture shows exactly why Ferrari makes Lamborghini look like a tiny spec in the rear view mirror.

I think we can figure out which of these year-old Sumatran tiger cubs is the dominant one.

There was a few minutes of sunlight today. Didn't really get to take advantage because clouds came, but at least I took photos.

Will be putting the rest to my blog later.

Nooooo, Mark I, bad! Put him down right now. There's room on the desk for everyone!

Couldnt get a clear shot of the youngsters but between heads I did manage something of a shot !

Should say its through glass as well!!

Koenigsegg vs Bugatti

You just know the one in the middle is going to be a mess, the oldest way too bossy, the youngest a crowd pleaser. But that's tomatoes for you. They could all do with a bit of Jungian analysis.

Well, I may be back, I never said I'd be original. And I had cherry tomatoes in the fridge... ;)

Happy weekending, however you spend it.

These two sibling Herons consistently bothered each other all afternoon (one disrupting where the other was stalking fish, then vice-versa).

Rainey and I had so much fun on the river watching and photographing the antics of these magnificent birds

Little brother pulls his sister's hair inside their crib.

Typical of most brothers and sisters, whom will leave the nest first and start a life of their own.

Bit overcast today, but great to see this behaviour (first time for me) albeit from a distance. These 2 are siblings, the female is on the left. They spent a good minute in a tug of war holding each others beaks before the female gave up and left. They have been doing this all summer, what is surprising is that they are both still on the same small lake, normally by now one would have claimed it.

Maybe they flight (like a brother and sister sometimes do) but still prefer to have each other around?

The World Cup final I was routing for! British and French soldiers resume 1000 years of conflict with a friendly football scrimmage outside the Marne in July 1918.

A humorous take on the vicious film vs digital debate.

I need a sheet of white perspex or a bigger lightbox...

Taken for my 365/photoblog ( bens-photo.blogspot.com/ ) after reading a flame war on a forum. I wonder if this is the first time in recorded history that a flame war has done something other than upset people?

[EDIT] Woohoo! Explored!

Life is tough in the wild and it seems sometimes even shorebirds battle over food. As I watched through my lens these two appeared to be skirmishing but they were tiny and all I saw were two little puffballs flopping around in the sand. It wasn't until recently looking through my photos that I could piece together the story. The young American Oystercatcher in front had just received food from its parent. Its sibling, possibly wanting the food for itself, opened its beak and clamped down hard on the other young chick. The recently fed sibling tried for several seconds to wriggle free and couldn't (shown in this frame). Finally the adult came by and nudged the two apart. Sibling rivalry is alive and well among our feathered friends. June 23, 2017

A family of herons in what appears to be a quarrel as the sun sets over the wildlife-rich Camargue region in southern France, between the Rhone River and the Mediterranean Sea. (2021-08-05)

My friend Rafael and I engaged in a little bit of a facial hair war.

Whenever I have some time in my travels I go to this beach in Marin County and try to capture some surfers, dogs, waves, whatever.

These two young, energetic, dogs were wrestling the entire time while running on the beach. I assume they are siblings based on age and weight, etc.. They were definitely fun to watch.

WIT: I set the camera on IL Servo focus and high speed frame capture and shot away. This was the best from the bunch.

We're now into the 4th year of the Woking Peregrine Project. Another hugely successful year, with all 5 chicks surviving to fledging. They've been flying for little over a week now and are already putting on some pretty impressive aerial displays.

Reminds me of our family growing up!

The chick on the left is the same one pictured as a newborn two photos back in my stream. His younger sibling was repeatedly pecking at him. This time he caught him by the throat. The older chick continually respond by pounding the younger one's head into the nest with his beak. I saw the third born and this middle chick do the same thing. The younger chick started the fight that time too. Mom, whose leg can be seen on the right, only watched. Egret parents do not interfere. Even when the fight is to the death. Which is called siblicide. That did not happen in this nest.

Yesterday we went to the park to feed swans and geese. But gulls are much faster than them and have time to eat most of the feed. But I got a few nice seagulls in flight. It's amazing how easily they act as wings as brakes and hang in the air like helicopters.

Thank you all, dear friends, for visits, faves and comments!

This shot reminds me of the Blue Angels flying over Lake Washington during the Seafair.

Stella and Roe sure look a lot fiercer than they are!
