I'm a little scared and wary now! The gunked Auto Reveunon 50mm beats two better lenses and shows you should freelense old M42 lenses on your Nikon instead of using an adapter with glass. This is with a generic M42 to F-mount adapter with glass, but at F/1.9 it's a blurry mess where the focuspoint (206 on the key) was. I'll need to retest this photo with the more expensive Kipon adapter (with glass for focus to infinity) and a glassless M42 to F-mount adapter. The Auto Revuenon was $3 and can achieve wonderful stuff when freelensed! (see the this photo)

Yet another (preliminary) ISO test (YAIT) for the 5D Mark II. Returning the rental later today.

www.yahoo.com/news/youre-vaccinated-covid-19-just-1840338...

You're Vaccinated for COVID-19, and You Just Tested Positive. Now What?

Like millions of Americans, Kevin was vaccinated against COVID-19 in March to protect himself. But the Tuesday after visiting bars with friends over a rainy Memorial Day weekend in Provincetown, Massachusetts, he had a running nose and some congestion.

“I thought it was typical springtime allergies in New England,” said Kevin, 42, who spoke on the condition that his last name not be used. The symptoms worsened to headaches, body aches and sleepless nights. His doctor told him that it might be the flu but suggested a coronavirus test. The result was positive.

“You don’t think it will be you,” said Kevin, who isolated in his Provincetown townhome for 10 days.

“At the end of the day, the vaccination still worked,” he said. “I didn’t get as sick as people who got COVID prior to the vaccination being available.”

‘Breakthrough’ cases are rare.

If you’re one of the small number of fully vaccinated people who later test positive for COVID-19, what should you do?

COVID vaccines have been highly effective in preventing COVID-19, especially hospitalization and death, and are generally working as expected, doctors say. The vaccines also reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Although the risk of vaccinated people becoming infected with the virus is low, it can still happen, experts said.

“Yes, this will happen, unusual but will happen," said Dr. Sandro Galea, dean of the Boston University School of Public Health.

Those rare cases are called breakthrough infections and as of April 30, there were more than 10,000 of these infections reported from 46 American states and territories, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC has stopped recording such infections if there are no severe symptoms, so the number for cases, including mild ones, is most likely higher.

What to do if it happens to you?

A fully vaccinated person who experiences symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should isolate themselves from others, the CDC said.

“Broadly, someone who tests positive should isolate for 10 days,” Galea, noting CDC guidelines, said.

Dr. Eric Cioe-Peña, director of Global Health at Northwell Health in New Hyde Park in New York, said the guidelines were not much different from those for someone who tested positive before the vaccines were available.

“You still have to isolate,” he said. “You still have to contact trace with the understanding that your peace of mind is a little bit better.”

People should also inform their health care provider of their positive result. If you leave home to go to the doctor, wear a mask and practice social distancing.

“Fundamentally, though, someone should isolate and then retest, with the latter probably in consultation with a provider,” Galea said.

But what about people in your home?

The infected person should stay in a separate “sick room” or area and use a separate bathroom, if available.

“If possible, maintain 6 feet between the person who is sick and other household members,” the CDC said.

This is important because an infected person — even one without symptoms — could pass the virus to someone who is unvaccinated, including children under the age of 12 or people who cannot get a vaccine because of immune-related or other health issues.

The center noted that the coronavirus spreads between people who are in close contact through respiratory droplets that are produced when someone talks, coughs or sneezes. The virus also spreads through respiratory droplets among people who share the same indoor space.

But, Cioe-Peña said, the level of virus in the nose and droplets are not as contagious in a vaccinated person.

“You probably aren’t going to pass this on,” he said.

Residents should frequently disinfect touched surfaces in the household if someone is sick or has tested positive for COVID-19.

It might be helpful to turn on fans and open doors and windows for fresh ventilation in the residence. And do not share household items such as utensils, cups and towels for the quarantine period, the CDC said.

How serious are breakthrough symptoms?

Cioe-Peña said an infected person who had been vaccinated might have mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.

“In the post-vaccine era, testing COVID-positive is a lot less scary,” he said. For “the vast majority of people — 99.9% of the time — I am going to be OK. I am going to have a mild case. I may not even notice.”

The most serious symptoms include nasal congestion and mild body aches, said Dr. Sunil Sood, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore in New York.

“It would be the mildest of the end of the spectrum of COVID-19,” he said. “It may be just a mild common cold.”

But this may be different in vaccinated individuals with weak immune systems like older adults and people with certain medical conditions or those who take certain medications.

There have been some high profile cases.

TV host Bill Maher was fully vaccinated when he tested positive last month during weekly staff testing, prompting HBO to reschedule the taping of two of his shows. At the time, he said he felt “perfectly fine.”

On June 10, two fully vaccinated passengers aboard a Celebrity cruise ship tested positive and had to isolate, according to the Royal Caribbean Group. The passengers were asymptomatic.

And in May, the New York Yankees’ two-time All-Star shortstop, Gleyber Torres, tested positive after vaccination, as did three coaches and four staff members.

While most infections are likely to produce mild or no symptoms, many of these cases would not have been discovered without routine screening.

Will this become more common?

“We are going to see people pop up and be positive, but it’s not meaningful because your chances of passing it to someone are much lower,” Cioe-Peña said. “Certainly, we will hear stories — my friend’s neighbor got vaccinated and tested positive. If we continue to get people vaccinated, we will hear these stories of one-offs.”

Still, doctors emphasize the effectiveness of the vaccines and encourage people to be fully vaccinated as supplies and appointments are now widely available in the United States. This is particularly true as the new highly contagious Delta variant becomes more widespread during the summer travel season.

“It provides a solid degree of protection,” Sood said. “It provides the freedom to move around and go on with your daily life and activities almost before it was this pandemic.”

I am still working from home while they are taking care of mold remediation at the office. Taking forever. They are still using the hepa filter in the closed off areas and then will retest the air to see if it is clear in order to start building back.

I didn't do a lot today. The weather was still nice so we had the rest of the BBQ'ed food outside as a family. That was cool. Other than that, mum decided to spring up the fact that I have my driving theory test tomorrow so I had 12 hours to revise. Fabulous. This is a retest too because I failed last time by one wrong answer! Absolutely gutted.

This guy always flies around the area, usually really low too. He did his rounds this evening and left again, over the horizon. He flies back and forth a few times, circling the area before leaving again. He must be local. All I know as of now is;

he's a badass.

Joe and I just got home from an overnight hockey game and were happy to see Polly. While we were away, Darren took her to the vet for her first check-up and she tested positive for feline leukemia. We are sad, but hopeful she may fight it off, and will retest her in a few months. And, even if not, we'll just hope she has some healthy years ahead to spend with us.

www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/GREEN-POBLANO-RICE-...

Ingredients

1 2/3 cups chicken broth or water

2 fresh poblano chiles, stems and seeds removed, and roughly chopped

12 springs cilantro, plus extra for garnish

Salt, about 1/2 teaspoon if using salted broth, 1 teaspoon if using unsalted or water

1 tablespoon vegetable or olive oil

1 cup rice, preferably medium grain

1 small white onion, cut into 1/4-inch dice

5 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped

The flavoring: In a 2-quart saucepan, combine the broth and chiles, bring to a boil, then partially cover and simmer gently over medium to medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, until the chiles are very soft. Pour the chile mixture into a food processor, add the cilantro (stems and all), and process to a smooth puree. Press through a medium-mesh strainer into a bowl and stir in the salt.

The rice: Wipe the pan clean, add the oil and heat over medium. Add the rice and onion, and cook, stirring regularly, until the rice is chalky looking and the onion is soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook a minute longer.

Add the warm (or reheated) chile liquid to the hot rice pan, stir once, scrape down any rice kernels clinging to the side of the pan, cover, and cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Uncover and check a grain of rice: It should be nearly cooked through. If the rice is just about ready, turn off the heat, re-cover and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes longer to complete the cooking. If the rice seems far from done, continue cooking for 5 minutes or so, retest, then turn off the heat and let stand a few minutes longer. Fluff with a fork, scoop into a warm serving dish, decorate with cilantro sprigs and it's ready to serve.

Variations and improvisations: An obvious variation is to use 3 or 4 long green (Anaheim) chiles, or to mix poblanos and long greens with hotter chiles like jalapeño, manzano or habanero. Grilled corn cut from 1 cob or 1 large grilled zucchini (cubed) are tasty vegetable add-ins. About 1 cup coarsely shredded roast (or barbecued) pork or smoked salmon, mixed in toward the end of cooking, will make green rice a full meal.

Comedy stickers aside this Transporter camper looked pretty original. 82k on the clock as of last June; it's due a retest in 2 weeks.

Another retest from Round 1 (R1 #30), that came out clean both times.

Jules finished his 2 days of IV support Thursday. Friday we had him rest, and Saturday he had his IV port pulled out! Yay! Today was his first day of eating full meals. So far so good.

He is resting well, finally. We have a bevvy of meds to support him. Tramadol for pain being the one I, and I assume he is relieved to have on board.

We wait now----again, to see how well his pancreas will do. We are praying that this is the last of it! If he continues to do well then in about a month we will retest his enzymes to be certain that all is still good.

On a side note, Phoebe, our little foster puppy went to her new home. Greg and I miss the little monkey. Julian looked for her for a minute when I came home from dropping her off. Other than that he seems to be just fine.

Seen in Redhill, Surrey.

Looks like the Fiat came off the road over 30 years ago.

Logs headed to the mill

As a senior software engineer working on Orion, I am responsible for software/hardware integration and testing to ensure all the spacecraft’s computer commands perform as expected for America’s next generation spacecraft destined for deep space.

Working with bits and bytes all day is much cooler than you might think. I get to simulate Orion missions almost every day, just as if we’re flying in space. I test the systems from launch, through flight and back to Earth. If I find any issues, I resolve them and retest to ensure a smooth and safe flight for our future crews.

As a young girl growing up in Gaza City, Palestine, watching the space shuttle takeoff and come back to Earth always amazed me. That’s what inspired me to become part of the space program. I came to Houston to pursue my degree in engineering from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Soon after graduation, I began work on the Space Shuttle Program. When the shuttle retired I saw Orion as the new beginning for the next human spaceflight program, and I wanted to be part of it.

My advice to young girls around the world: Always have a dream, dream big, and work really hard to make your dream come true. Mine did.

Training/preparing for the Natural Ability Test - Tracking Phase.

"The ability to concentrate on a track is an important trait of the versatile hunting dog. It is this ability that permits the prompt recovery of cripples that are still capable of running long distances. This exercise is primarily a test of the dog’s ability to use its nose and to concentrate on the track. Desire and cooperation are also factors which are noted by the Judges during the course of the test.

A flightless pheasant or chukar is released in an area reserved for the tracking. The area should be sufficiently wide to avoid the tracks being too close to one another. Tracks must be laid down-wind or cross-wind, never into the wind. Ideally, the cover should be about 8-10 inches high. This should not hinder the running bird and will retain the scent, while at the same time giving the Judges an opportunity to see the path taken by the bird and to closely observe the dog as it works the track. The track should end in cover that takes advantage of the bird’s instinct to hide. At the discretion of the handler the dog may or may not be shown the game bird before the bird is released. If a handler has any question about the advisability of his dog seeing the bird, he or she should confer with a Judge on the matter. Whether or not the dog is shown the bird makes no difference in the scoring. After the decision is made and carried out, the dog and handler are directed to go behind some natural cover or a portable blind from where neither can see the bird being released.

After the bird has gone a sufficient distance and is out of sight, the dog is brought to the release spot and the handler sets the dog on the track. After releasing the dog, the handler will stand quietly, facing forward and allow the dog to track on his own. It is important to calm the dog for this test. The handler should ensure the dog is concentrating on the track before release. A NAVHDA Judge may help a handler start the dog properly. The distance the dog works the track is not as important as the concentration and intensity displayed by the dog when following the track. A dog that follows a track a short distance over ground with little or no vegetation and slowly and deliberately “spells” his way forward should be scored higher than the dog that speeds longer distances with little accuracy, especially under favorable conditions of wind, moisture, vegetation, etc.

The young dog must display eagerness and perseverance on a track. His future use as a retriever of crippled game is dependent on this characteristic. Some dogs will track well with the nose close to the ground, while others may carry their head higher and also track well. Some dogs follow the track closely while others will track several yards downwind of the track. Some dogs track slowly and deliberately while some run full out. The score is dependent upon the quality of the dog’s performance, not the method used. In this test the dog is not required to retrieve the bird, simply to follow the track. The handler will be allowed to assist the dog for a short distance. The Judges have the prerogative of recalling any dog for retesting. In this case, the dog is recalled after all other dogs have been tested."

[NAVHDA Test Rules]

Tessa did two pheasant tracks today, each one equally successful. She was tracking a little wide due to the way the wind blew, but once back on track followed it straight to the pheasant (which was in a crate hidden in the woods).

I then called Tessa back, and she immediately came, but she kept on running, so while she was cooperating, she was not fully, running hither and thither all excited about just being there. Work to do on the recall, but I knew that.

Retest after CLA by myself

(The lens is uncoated and all the photos are token without lens hood. Some of photos are modification with size crop, color and sharpness improvement.)

My old man turns 70 next year, and he got a nice form from the DVLA telling him that he needs to renew his driving licence.

This doesn't mean a retest and doesn't cost anything, at least for the application, but is a chore.

Interestingly, it's a chore that's made massively easier if you have a current passport. His was expired, so we shelled out the requisite £72.50 for a new passport to help out the application for the driving licence.

All up to speed? Good. There are some rather nice pictures in the new passport, and whilst they don't come close to the dizzy heights of the animated walking elk on the Finnish passport, we do have a tube train!

With everything on the bus electrical its test and retest. The multi meter was used to confirmed each of the diodes operation, both in blocking current and allowing it to pass as diodes can fail in a number of ways.

A lazy Sunday morning, eating cereal (some blueberry crunch stuff from Costco that's amazingly good with just a spoonful of Nutella added) in bed while watching This Week and Meet the Press. I always said I'd never eat in bed. Never say never, I suppose.

We're off for another road trip this morning, heading toward Madison I think. I need out of the house, and the road trips allow me to stay on "bed rest" so to speak - but with an appreciated change of scenery. It's quickly becoming apparent that our days of "just us" are dwindling.

Yesterday we spent the early morning cleaning. I had a sudden burst of energy and was even cleaning all the windows and polishing all the woodwork in the house. It was like I was possessed. I'm tuckered out now though, and the rest will have to wait. I just want some time together without interruption.

All in all, we've had a good week. I got a substantial raise on Friday during my performance evaluation, and it's retroactive to January 1st. My doctor's appointment this week showed that I'm measuring 35 weeks now, a full month ahead of where I should be. The doctor estimated that Julian weighs 5.25 lbs. now. That just blows my mind. They're sending me for another ultrasound this week to get a better grasp of his size, and retesting me for gestational diabetes as his growth rate is so off the charts. We're over the 95th percentile apparently for size. The doctor said that if I go into labor during the next three weeks or so, she will try to stop it. After that - if it happens - we're letting nature run its course.

~Late posting yet please forgive.~

For Project SoulPancake this week we were to eat something that we don't like. More specifically getting that gag reflex kinda feeling.

I've tried many different kinds of foods that aren't part of regular American diets. Kangaroo, bugs, various sea creatures, goat, hoofs and trotters, tails, tongues, stinky fruits etc. So the list of what makes me gag isn't too huge.

Guess my surprise when my bf brings home snails/escargot from Whole Foods. Perfect! I hadn't even told him about the theme this week. He'll eat just about anything once and hadn't had these in awhile. I've eaten escargot before and didn't care for them. So tough with no great accompanying flavors. Like old left-over gum.

It's a texture thing. I don't care for rubbery food which is usually over cooked squid/calamari/octopus, eggplant etc. I don't care for it.

Perfect time to retest.

The snails came preseasoned with a pepper - parsley sauce. After a quick broil in the oven they were ready. How was it? Actually kinda tender and sweet in a savory way. The sauce completely helped. Some lemon would have been nice but I had some white wine to wash it with. BF agreed the batch we had was some of the better he's eaten.

Result? Not bad. I didn't gag per say. I'm quite happy with trying snails again to retest my pallet. Will I have them in again? Highly unlikely. I do fully agree with opening and reopening my eyes to various foods. This is a good thing for my soul.

Also good alternate for 52 weeks.

Portfolio shot for Real Estate.

Day 3 of Retesting Hunter

As you might remember from yesterday's post, lots of stuff happened. So many delays, a co-vid scare, and a tick on his penis are the highlights. Mix in being hungry, exhausted, and frustrated and there you have our first (and only) 2-day stay at the hospital.

Is it God Speaking?

The 1-day screw-up or the 2-day delay...was that God saying "stay home?" Nah, God hasn't spoken to me in a while (in my opinion, not His). I press on, determined to get an answer with one of my many phone calls or messages.

We get there and most goes smoothly. Get to our room and things start falling into place. Nurses come in and do their thing. We get the IV going, tests begin running, questions being asked. You know, all the things. The co-vid test was a NIGHTMARE, but we got it done.

Is He Speaking Louder?

At 5 am, the neuro walks in to inform me that Hunter tested positive for co-vid. I told her that it had to be wrong because we have been nowhere. He has no symptoms. She said that it was positive and that we were being transferred to the co-vid unit.

Excellent.

They decided to retest him at 530 am. Fun, I know. Regardless of the outcome of that test, the aliens came in and whisked him down to the "red-headed stepchild" ward. I kid you not, that's what people call it.

My mom called and said, "Brandi, can't you just go home?" I told her no because we need these tests. That was my third warning and our second positive test.

Buffy was born September 14th 2001 at a puppy mill in Iowa. Buffy struggled a bit as a puppy since she was the runt of the litter. When I purchased her at the age of 8 weeks she only weighed 13 ounces. I took her to the veterinarian for her first check up a couple of days after getting her.

During her examination she was diagnosed with a luxating patella. Luxating patella is a condition in which the patella, or kneecap, dislocates or moves out of its normal location. This is common in small dogs such as Pomeranians. Luckily, Buffy had no problems develop from this and she enjoyed nine more years of perfect health

In 2010 Buffy had a bone spur break off a vertebrae and run down the length of her spinal cord. This caused paralysis in her hind legs. We were pretty worried when we brought her home from the vet because we weren't certain if she would be able to urinate or have bowel movements. We waited for a few hours and she was able to perform her bodily functions.

Our vet suggested we perform acupuncture on buffy to see if we could get her hind legs working again. We noticed a remarkable improvement in her range of motion after the first treatment (She chased the cat when we brought her home)

After four acpuncture treatments and anti inflammatory medication she was cured of the paralysis

In February 2013 we had brought Buffy into the vet for a routine teeth cleaning when it was discovered that she had developed a type of periodontal disease in the roots of her teeth and all of her teeth needed to be removed. If we didn't remove her teeth, it would have killed her. Buffy has adapted very well to not having teeth. She eats just like a dog with teeth and has even gained weight

In October of 2013 Buffy was diagnosed with a heart murmur. Buffy has had no ill effects from this murmur and it is being monitored for further progression

Yesterday Buffy was at the vet for her yearly exam. The doctor noticed a small area of fur had not grown back on the site of an IV that was performed back when she had her teeth removed. This isn't even noticeable unless you move the fur her on the leg.

The vet is concerned that Buffy has developed Cushing's Disease. We wont know any details for another couple of days until we take her in on Wednesday for another blood draw. ($154 Yikes)

We just got the results today of Buffy's blood draw on Wednesday. The vet thinks that she does not have Cushing's Disease but he would like to retest her in another 6 months to a year. I'm a bit leery on testing her again. Since she has such small veins in her legs that they have to draw blood from her neck and it scares the hell out of the dog. My feeling is that she will be almost 14 years old at the time of the next test and I don't know if I want to put her through the ordeal of doing it again.

In November of 2016 they found a tumor on her heart and only expected her to live a week or two but she made it another six months. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in April of 2017

I'm sorry I haven't been on flickr much lately. I have been very busy this month. I had a photo shoot project (which is almost completed) and I am trying to make calendars for loved ones for Christmas. That is still a work in progress.

My 3 kittens are now neutered, spayed, vaccinated and available for adoption. Jack had to wear a cone for about a day after his operation because he was licking himself too much. He is cone free now.

I have a wild calico cat living in my first spare room. She was outdoors at a local farm home and the owner contacted me about helping to trap her and get her spayed. She was trapped about 11 days ago, and spayed last Friday (a week ago). She has shown some signs of maybe being a tame cat gone wild so I have been working with her. The owner comes by to visit Patches every day or two and we both work with her together. Patches is really bonded with the owner, but they can't bring her inside because they have one very special needs cat who will not accept a second cat in the house. Their outdoor area is not particularly safe for Patches so we aren't quite sure what to do with her and it's also too cold outside right now to put her back out so for now she remains with me.

I also took in a rescue cat earlier this week. I call her Missy. She has tested positive for FeLV, but it is a weak positive. The vet recommended retesting her in about a month, at which time she will be spayed. We are hoping for a negative on the retest. Meanwhile she is staying in my second spare room and must remain isolated from my other cats.

I know I am way behind and I'm sorry about it. I have occasionally been posting on ipernity so I will include the links to the main pages if you want to read more about these cats. Otherwise I am hoping I can be online more and catch up with everyone within a few days to a week. I generally don't like November, so I'm glad it's going by so fast this year. But I feel so far behind that I don't like that either.

This is the gentleman who tested my car for the MOT.

It is a strange fact than whenever one arrives at this busy garage it is always, inevitably, tea break.

So I got chance when I returned for the retest to get four random men portraits.

This is the hottest home accessory!

No, actually this is a blower door test. I am testing the leakage rate of my home by placing it under extreme negative pressure. This test instrument is calibrated to calculate the combined leakage. My home had an equivalent of a 1.5 sq ft hole in it. Basically the attic stairs. I need to get a tent for that.

If you are having energy auditing done on your home and this test is not used, it's just a shot in the dark. This is the first step in tightening up the home. You want a base level and retest to measure your improvements. Call me.

October 25

I got to see Weiner with Amanda and Emily tonight! The documentary about Anthony Weiner was showing at the UNT Lyceum as part of their Fine Arts Series. There must have been fewer than ten people show up for the thing, but it was really good! I didnât expect to like Anthony Weiner as much as I did, and I felt even worse for his wife Huma than I expected to.

I spent my work day frantically studying for my CATS retest. I had to delegate the task of scheduling people for our big Scrappy shoot tomorrow, so hopefully weâll have some people for that. Luckily, I did pass the test this time, so now I just need to do the background check part and Iâll be a licensed UAS pilot. Woo!
