A cloud rests in the bottom of a forested valley. Perhaps it just didn’t feel like moving along with the other clouds that morning.
A pair of ATSF EMD’s sit in Lorenzo, IL on Feb 12th w/ a YCHI106 and the power sat at Lorenzo for almost a solid week and finally left to go back to Corwith
These big black-browed albatrosses are know as long-distance fliers, soaring effortlessly over the ocean in the search of food. But when they are sitting on a nest, as this one is, they will routinely tuck their bills into their back feathers and rest for a while.
Parents will take turns on the nest while the other heads out to feed and gather food for the chick (if the egg has hatched).
No78019 has finished work for the day and settles down for a well deserved overnight rest in the yard.
Note: In December 2019, I discovered that my lens had been incorrectly reassembled by a previous owner with the rear element reversed. This made a quite pleasant soft focus lens but my early shots are not representative of it's true performance. Correctly assembled, it provides far better IQ.
Neotropic Cormorant
Once very uncommon in Southern California, more and more Neotropic cormorants are showing up and breeding here in Southern California. Traditionally they were only seen in parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

Around 930am this morning I looked out the back window and saw this fox resting at the back edge of the yard. I have seen her off and on in the past year but have not been able to get any good images of her since this past Spring/Summer. These were taken through glass out the back garage door.

A Common Green Bottle Fly rests on the petals of this orange flower.
The metallic skin of this fly gives it a more pleasing appearance than the common black house fly!
