AMP are acronyms that respond to Accelerated Mobile Pages, technology created by Google to reduce the loading time of websites on mobile devices. It is about lowering times for users with slower data connections. It is also used for devices with more limited capabilities than computers.
For web development, both forms of work (AMP and responsive) have been created to improve the delivery of content on mobile devices and tablets. They also use similar building blocks based on CSS, JavaScript, and HTML L.
The difference between the two is that responsive webs adapt to any device, whether it’s tablets, desktop PCs, laptops, mobile phones … However, the AMP design optimizes all the capabilities of our mobile devices. It takes advantage of their speed and exploits all their qualities.
Other notable differences in the comparative web vs. AMP-responsive
The responsive design replaces a network already created, without being able to take advantage of the work already done. This is because its main feature is to create a website that works on any device and thus has a better SEO web positioning.
However, the AMP websites do not need a redesign, because they take advantage of the structuring of the sites. That is its primary function. AMP only works, for the moment, on static sites. Hence, currently only used for news articles or blog posts.
Can the user detect the use of one or the other?
Google has created a search algorithm based on a score per page that gives you based on indicators of user experience in the mobile. One sign is the test for mobile devices, and the other is speed.
Some models of responsive web design do not allow to improve the indicator of speed due to the plan made on the web. On the other hand, AMP can optimize either of the two signs. Hence, if you want to position your website well in Google, it is best to use an AMP web design.
If when loading a web on your mobile you notice that your CSS does not fit correctly or the load times are too high, that means that you will probably be navigating a responsive website.
AMP Project Google has made tremendous improvements regarding mobile access. It is a tool widely used in website development, although it must still improve a lot regarding design issues to give visibility with more celebrated style.
