I had to return for another look around. It had struck me as so depressing the day before. . . all the trash lying about. There is no evidence of our childhood escapades, or the wonders of nature we discovered there. But I couldn't start the new year on that note. I just couldn't. I forced myself to look beyond the ruin, to the hope of new possibilities.

Recovering from misfortune.. I thank my GOD for giving me the strength to deal with what I go though

Our Maple tree is still hanging onto it's leaves.

The thank you photo for all those who donated to helping this pooch get a life saving surgery. My roommates dog Larry, is the most resilient old dog ive met in my life. less than a week after surgery and shes living life like shes 4 years old.

We have had a very cold winter here in DC including 10+ inches of snow and many sub-freezing nights and days. In spite of that, the Camellia collection at the National Arboretum has been prolific throughout the winter.

They produce thousands of buds and that open throughout the season. When the temps fall into the 20's the blossoms get "burned" and turn a brownish color but when the temperatures rise the new buds bloom beautifully.

Many of these plants are the product of a breeding program utilizing cold hardy camellias, and include a series of popular hybrids that were bred at the Arboretum after severely cold winters in the 1970s devastated the original collection.

I was attracted to the tree growing near the Lower Falls in the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. How did it get there and how does it survive?

This flag caught my eye today. Not just because the flag is enormous, flying boldly in strong gusts, and catching the sun, but also because it is flying at half-mast just a few days after our country's latest school massacre. We must eliminate these preventable half-mast days!

S'accrocher à l'espoir dans l'adversité! Ne jamais baisser les bras! Affronter les tempêtes!!!

A week ago this building was on fire. It's been abandoned for a long time though, given the look of it. I had just been here a couple weeks before and couldn't see any signs of the fire on the 4 floors I went on.

I wanted to get a shot of Ashley in front of the windows. The backlighting was pretty strong so I needed to add light or I'd end up with major wrap. I set my exposure to give me a good look through the windows and to retain the light hitting the floor.

The devastating impact of COVID-19 on Travel & Tourism highlighted the need for enhanced resilience. Yet, to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the sector, such resilience must be both sustainable and inclusive and supported by enabling policies. As Travel & Tourism recovers, how can businesses and destinations alike enhance their resilience and drive sustainable and inclusive growth through their operations and investments?
