This is a robot mode only replica of Starscream's look in ROTF and DOTM.

I tried to replicate every single detail from the CGI model, which differs greatly from the actual figure. I added tons of parts on his chest, arms and legs, for that messy and sharpy Decepticon look.

I used parts from other transformers and from an actual F-22 Raptor model kit. Some decals were applied in the parts not covered by the tattoos.

All the wings from the toy were removed and replaced with the model kit wings, for a more streamlined and real look.

The original canopy section was removed, since it's not there in the movie version, leaving only the canopy itself (model kit part). The whole chest section was redone using mostly new parts to get the right look (much bulkier). The middle section was resculpted to be permanently open, with a few tiny mechanical parts and wires here and there. A few parts were added on his neck as well, which now sits at a higher position, giving Starscream a taller look.

I added several wires on his arms, instead of just paiting the sculpted ones, for a much more realistic look.

I also added articulated fingers, and a ball joint on his right hand. Each finger has a tiny spike added, just like the CGI model has.

I added the jet engines on his back, as well.

His lower legs were heavily modified, with tons of new parts added, to get that overlapping-transforming -panels look.

The paint job was done with several coats of different shades of gray and metallic enamels, for that not so shiny but still metallic look (like the actual F-22)

Starcream also comes with a removable circular saw blade and the barrel gun with "wings" added.

The final touch is on his head. I resculpted his eyes for a more accurate and meaner "look". Finally, each eye has its own LED now, and they're visible even in day light.

As a lifelong fan and devotee to the music of Queen, Gareth Hill had dreamed of playing the part of Freddie in a live show, ever since his untimely and premature death nearly 20 years earlier. It was with great trepidation that he approached this concept, knowing that a less than stellar representation of Queen's magic would not be acceptable. It had to be brilliant!

The Australian Queen Tribute Show was formed in 2006. After a few line up changes, hundreds of rehearsals and countless hours of planning & preparation, the band was finally ready in late 2008. And the results were simply spectacular!

With absolutely no reliance on backing tracks, with all songs in the original keys and with a stage show that brings the brilliance and magic of Queen alive like no other, The Australian Queen Tribute Show are simply the best sounding, best looking and most technically accurate Queen Tribute anywhere.

The formula is simple. Sound like Queen, perform like Queen, look like Queen and have a hell of a lot of fun doing it!

Over the last 2 years the band has toured the breadth & width of Australia, bringing the magic of Queen to dozens of country areas and racking up countless kilometres!! The plan over the next 2 years is to bring the show to all capital cities and to many regional areas that would otherwise not have the opportunity of seeing such a great show. So stay tuned, we're coming to YOU!!

Gareth Hill as Freddie Mercury has to be seen to be believed. His mind blowing 'Freddie Like' vocal range, stage antics and amazing likeness for Freddie Mercury are a sight and sound to behold!

Scotty Hotpants as the inimitable Brian May replicates the licks of Brian with such accuracy that even die-hard fans are left amazed! The trusty Red Special by his side, Vox AC30 amp to pump out that huge sound, curly mop to match and a lanky stature to boot, you'll have to look (and listen) twice… Trust me!

The ever reliable bass player of the band is played by Darryn McLaughlin… Let's just say that the staid and sensible John Deacon is played to perfection.

Queen's drummer, Roger Taylor had a style which cannot be mistaken and Brad Hodge as Mr Taylor doesn't miss a beat… With a replica of the Wembley '86 drumkit, the blond locks, Raybans and attitude to go with all of that, it's 'almost' Roger Taylor in the flesh!!

So if it's Queen you want? It's Queen you can have!!!

Check out the Gig Guide and come see The Australian Queen Tribute Show for an experience that you'll never forget!

Inspired by Mark Rothko's "Multiforms" work, i wondered if i could replicate similar images in-camera.

This image is of the top and front edges of my Dell notebook PC sitting on my desk at work. It was shot with an Apple iPhone 3GS!

It's amazing to me how the illusion can be shattered when you know what it is and how I got it. I deliberately held the iPhone's camera too close to the subject in order to ensure that it couldn't focus it to create this effect. Unlike the other Rothko-like images I have previously produced, many of the techniques I have used were not available to me here.

This image has had virtually no post-processing at all, this is effectively what came straight out of the camera.

Tragedy at Six Bells

By David John Withers, Brynmawr

My father worked in the colliery all his life and I sort of followed him into the pit. I went to work in Six Bells Colliery at 17 years of age.

When I first went on the 0.18 coal face as a collier's helper I was introduced to my 'batty' Reggie Poe who showed me the tools we were using and two chalk marks 15 yards apart on the coal face. This was our working place, 15 yards long by 4-foot-6 deep by 5 feet high. I thought 'bloody hell' - it seemed a huge amount of coal to shift.

Although the other coal faces in our district were more modern with hydraulic roof supports, we were still using the older friction posts and linked bars. I've still got the scars where one of the bars came down on me!

We had quite a few problems with gas on the 0.18 coal face and the dust was killing. At times the conveyor would start up and you couldn't see each other until the dust settled down.

As boys we often refused to go onto the face because of the amounts of dust there - being youngsters we stuck together even when the officials threatened to send us home. It wasn't much of a threat as I was only earning about £6 odd!

I had been working about two years when the explosion happened. I was working on the 0.18 face at Six Bells on the 'turning shift' and arrived at the colliery on the bus to see the place in turmoil and heard that an explosion had happened. As the explosion had occurred at our place of work, we offered to go down and help as we knew the place, but the Rescue Brigade had it under control and wouldn't let us go down.

It's hard to say my feelings about it all. We knew there was gas there and they said a spark had set it off. I had mostly enjoyed the colliery up to then. I remember four of the men who died - I used to give them snuff with powdered bark mixed in as a joke - there was a good spirit amongst the men at the pit.

Once the explosion had happened it put me off. I finished and I put my notice in soon after. I was too young to lose my life in the colliery. If I had been working the day shift that week it would have been me. The explosion opened my eyes to the dangers and I went into the construction industry instead - I was always good with my hands. The pit made me grow up.

The deaths of 45 men killed 50 years ago in a colliery explosion have been remembered with a service at the site.

A gas explosion ripped through the Six Bells colliery near Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent at 10.45am on 28 June 1960.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, led a service of remembrance at the site.

He also unveiled a memorial to the tragedy, a 20m high sculpture of a miner by Sebastian Boyesen.
