After nearly two years since the original building was destroyed by a tornado, this replacement Whataburger restaurant opened on July 29, 2019 at 3:00 PM. At the time of its opening, this became the largest Whataburger location operating in Oklahoma.

The Whataburger building that previously occupied this site was severely damaged by a tornado on August 6, 2017 and was demolished on August 15, 2017. The restaurant was open and serving customers at the time that the tornado hit.

The tornado-ravaged Whataburger building started out as a Burger Chef. When it was converted to Whataburger, an A-frame was added to give the building a signature Whataburger appearance.

It was back to Basingstoke today (12/01/2025) for another look at the rail replacement operation with an impressive 13 departures an hour. A bit of a Barnes-fest certainly added brightness to an otherwise grey day.

The promise of a decent day's weather on 26 January 2018, motivated me to visit north Bristol to see the progress of electrification and as will be seen in other images uploaded today, photograph the 'new' order on the Severn Beach line.

I firstly visited Pilning station, it has had a troubled few years, situated as it is, some distance away from the village it purports to serve. For some years Pilning has had a poor service, but that deteriorated last year when the footbridge between the two platforms was in a perilous state and was removed, not to be replaced. The GWR would probably prefer to close the station completely, but the costs of closure are great, so to discourage intending passengers, there are just two services each week, both on a Saturday and only in the direction of Bristol. Pilning, as I found it, is a one platform station with no-stopping trains on the day of my visit, at least no passengers would get in the way of my photographs!

My visit was timed to photograph one of the new Class 800s, but the IET was replaced by a HST. The viewer will see that the progress of mast erection for the forthcoming electrification has arrived at Pilning.

For those interested, the leading power-car is one of the green-liveried vehicles, numbered 43093, though all other vehicles in the consist were in FGW 'blue', the service was 1B20, the 09.45 Paddington to Swansea

Got my Spectra from Mattel. Their customer service is pretty amazing. Thank you, Mattel! Her eyes still seem a bit off but I'm just super OCD. She looks better though right? haha.

The rather inclement weather had me pondering whether or not to venture out to Basingstoke today (05/01/2025) but in the end curiosity won again! A good few captures here for you to enjoy.

According to Preservation Chicago, the house has also hosted Enrico Fermi, the famous nuclear age physicist, and writer Saul Bellow, among others.

The four-bedroom, 3,100-square-foot Georgian house’s interior is run down in sections, but includes many original features like its living room, staircase, wood paneling and ceiling beams, according to Crain’s. The outer facade is brick, and is topped with a pediment and medallion window. Pillars hold up a second, smaller pediment over the front stoop.

One of the problems which I found when trying to write the caption for this photograph is that it is incredibly hard to identify the new replacement S-stock numbers! The Unit number can just be seen in white below the destination board at the front of the train. An unidentified unit (for now!) is shown here leaving Harrow on the Hill with an all stations service to Uxbridge.

After its trip from New Orleans - Amtraks Crescent service has a change of locomotives at Washington DC as the rest of the journey is by electrified power .

The AEM-7 is a twin-cab B-B electric locomotive that is used in the United States on the Northeast Corridor between Washington DC and Boston and the Keystone Corridor between Philadelphia and Harrisburg in Pennsylvania. They were built by Electro-Motive Division from 1978 to 1988. In the Boston Mechanical Department of Amtrak they are known as "Meatballs" and in the Washington Mechanical Department they are known as ASEAs since some of their major parts and components were designed in Sweden by ASEA (Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget; translation: General Swedish Electrical Inc), which merged with Brown Boveri in 1988 forming ABB. They are also referred to as "toasters" by railfans, owing to their boxy appearance

Back at the start of the nineties, there was a boom in the number of comic companies arriving on the scene. Publishers like Dark Horse and Image started to give the big two, Marvel and DC, a run for their money. Image in particular began a trend for violent super-hero action. If comics had grown up and got gritty in the mid 80's, they started to lay it down heavy in the 90's. Marvel responded by making their characters harder and tougher with bigger weapons and bigger no-nonsense attitudes.

DC came under fire for having outdated and softer characters, Superman in particular was lambasted for being a big blue boy scout. So DC reacted and they reacted cleverly.

For one year, they replaced Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman with newer, tougher, no-nonsense versions. Superman was killed and had no less than four replacements but the meanest was The Eradicator, a flying, energy blasting fascist who would incinerate burglars. Wonder Woman was brought back to Paradise Island and replaced with Artemis who would put an arrow between your eyes and ask questions later and poor Bruce Wayne had his back broken by Bane and decided that a borderline psychotic ex-assassin called Jean-Paul Valley was the best bet to look after Gotham while Wayne healed.

What Valley lost in skill, he made up for in fire-power, constructing himself a very Image Comics like battle suit to blow up chunks of Gotham with.

Of course, people didn't like them that much and wanted the originals back, which, of course, DC did happily, as this was their plan from the start.

Some times original is best, but damn if they weren't fun characters, and still around today too!

Ironically the Renowns which have seen heavy withdrawals as a result of the new vehicles entering the fleet, have been called upon to cover StreetLites that have suffered some teething problems.
