Mom recently broke the Glass Gazing Ball that I bought her years ago when she had a stent put in. She was shoveling some dirt and hit it and it exploded. The original looked like a soap bubble. This one has a lavender tint. If you look closely, you can see the photographer reflected within.
This is Traxxas part 5451X, with the pin and metal outdrive dropped out, and 30mm sawn off the slider casing. You also need to drill out one of the holes in the narrow end to 1/3" (3.2mm) to allow the screw pins to tap the plastic.
You can see the original screw pin (use at the axle end) and the shortened one. The part number of these is Traxxas 5154. You need to remove about 1mm from the thread end, and maybe 2mm from the other to clear the gearbox. I also chamfered the pin end to make it easier to insert.
The main line from Bristol Temple Meads to Weston-super-Mare has been closed for three weekends. This afternoon the work reached Yatton station with the down line being relaid.

Adding a California Scientific Medium size windshield to the NC700X DCT. Had to modify the installation process due to poor mounting.
I hate these goddamn orange paint on KWAs. Yeah, I get it- don't point it at people/animals, and don't bring it outside. Yeah. I am a collector- I love the fact that I can hold a fuctioning 'replica' at a fraction of a real steel's pricetag.
That said, I ordered a metal replacement barrel for the Mk.II. Installation is very simple.

A rudimentary rail replacement buses direction poster sign for passengers seen just outside Chelmsford Railway Station in the County of Essex (UK).
The Great Eastern Main Line railway at this point is frequently closed at the weekend due to infrastructure engineering works.
When this is the case, a rail replacement bus service will usually operate between (but not limited to) Newbury Park tube station (East London) and Shenfield, Ingatestone and Witham mainline stations depending on what section of the line is closed.

My car suddenly dropped dead. Starter engine broken. Got a replacement. Now hopefully my car is repaired soon...
1858 stone font placed during the restoration by Gloucester firm Medland & Maberly, (Longhope followed the direction of the Long Parliament in 1645 to destroy the font. At the 1660 Restoration they were called upon to replace it, and a parishioner donated a large domestic mortar. This vessel remained in use until this font was installed and the mortar became a feeding bowl for pigs, with a specially broken side to allow the piglets access. Some years later the farmer returned the mortar to the church where it was placed on the base of an ancient cross near the main gates, together with some stones from the old spire. Sadly this was stolen in the early 1980's.

What was supposed to be CSX 440 trailing on this Lynch train ended up being CSX 568, after 440 failed to start in the yard at Corbin earlier that morning. Though it lacks the YN2 paint, an AC44 is still most welcome.

This is one of those shots that every photographer shooting digital (and a lot of them shooting film) takes every now and then. It works like this.
You're walking around, not seeing anything particularly exciting but, eh, whatever. Every now and then you bring your eye to the viewfinder and press the release just for fun. Then, one time you look into the viewfinder, push the release and then do a double take. "Woah! I think that one was actually good!". If you're shooting film, you put the camera up to your eye and shoot a few more more directed more purposeful shots to make sure you got it. If you're shooting digital you pull it up on the LCD to see if it was what you thought it was. In this case, it was. I shot a few more anyway, just in case.
I like the feel of this. Sure it isn't perfect.. but that's part of it's appeal. The horizon is crooked, but the trees are straight. the composition is a bit odd, and the trees in the background interfere with the trees that are subjects, a bit. But, when your eyes follow those leaves down to those trunks it all works itself out.
The famous (in Maine) Waldo-Hancock suspension bridge over the Penobscot is dwarfed by a replacement four-lane cable-stayed bridge.

On this one, you can see a bicycle rider instead of a car. I guess it is more green and politically correct to post a photo of a bicycle man than a car driver.
NOTES: I thought most of the photos are too bright, and darkened them, using Picasa software but looking at them from other desktop PCs, they look dark. That means I cannot trust my HP laptop.

So, I love my sharkie shoes. I do. But, I've loved them so much now, that they are falling apart.
It's time for replacements. I'm sad, but it's the truth. The search for replacements was exhausting, as it's difficult to find shoes as awesome as my sharkie shoes, but I think I was successful. These are my new starry shoes. I love stars, and I love Chucks, so they just called to me.
And they're black and white, so they fit in quite well with the TOTW. :)
While my sharkie shoes can never truly be replaced, I am OK retiring them knowing that these will be worn instead.

Well, here is my "replacement." It's a nice frame/bike and all, but I'm just not really that into it and it kind of just rubs in my face how much I want my old bike back. I think the only way I would be happy is to find something way more rad than my old bike, and that just isn't going to happen unless I win the lottery and throw my conscience out the door.
I'm going to try my luck at finding a trade. hmmm...
