Farming For Justice with Maurice Small, Strategist
Maurice Small, Food Strategist, works in communities of low wealth to make sure they are able to activate the wealth they have internally and that they have around them. Maurice provides tools communities need to have great food access, food health and food awareness.
Maurice Small is an independent consultant with 25 years of experience in urban/ rural food systems development, youth entrepreneurship training, and soil creation. Maurice inherited his profound respect and love for the earth from his parents. This love for natural process and growth nurtures his strong desire to build community as he teaches and cultivates regional visions for sustainable agriculture, healthy lifestyles in underserved communities & urban/rural collaboration between growers and vendors. His work to address the development of a more sustainable regional food system began in Northeast Ohio in 1988 with vacant lot reclamation, community garden creation, work with local after-school programs and volunteering with organizations to cultivate urban local food production.
His current contract work in North America address's urban and rural food system creation, food justice awareness programming and urban/peri urban soil production with worms.

...repeating an old theme. Again there where no clouds. Lately I've felt that whenever I plan a shoot the nice clouds flee in all directions. Probably don't shoot enough :)
I saw the plane coming and it framed downtown nicely.

This is a quilt featuring a central panel with a repeating pattern of the continent of Africa, surrounded by a black border. The outer border of the quilt is made of colorful geometric patchwork fabric, reminiscent of a Kente cloth pattern.
Digging revels amazing patterns at rainbow's beach though many people foget to look closer, as on the surface al the sand colours combine into uniformity. Remember this just sand!
Obviously it needs repeating here but you get the idea. Two triangles, one with a thin boarder and one with a fatter double boarder and then hexagons as well. I will fold it properly soon
This location has a large number of cherry trees, which was very nice for experimenting as it made a wide variety of shots possible. Here I was going for a shallow depth of field with a series of branches on the same angle in an attempt to add some interest.

Sj said she took this because she liked the multiple lauries in the mirror. I am quite put out that none of them helped me when I had to colour in a great big load of grey with just a thin-nibbed posca.
This is at the very end of my canvas drawing, where I finally thought to draw standing up, to save on the achey back I was getting from drawing bend over.
Also you can see the belly that I plan to lose through regular running. Soon it shall be naught but abs of steel. Rarrrr!
Worked late. Walked later. Had the silent, white expanse all to myself.
I was struck when uploading this photo how much its shapes echo those in my shot from two days ago. Oh, how I repeat myself! Ways of seeing, ways of thinking...the little stories that run in my head, those familiar routes of wandering and wondering...
It's OK, it's all OK. Sometimes even beautiful in the way it all repeats.
