Repeating pattern--
I turned the saturation way up because the color of the sky pops
contrast up to highlight the clouds and blades of grass
brightness down just a smidge for depth

There was a beam of sunlight hitting this stone wall illuminating the lovely colours. It struck me how the colours of the wall were repeating themselves in the bark of the scots pine tree and the the vegetation and small stones on the ground.

This was a picture of an old bike taken in the southernmost tip of Mississippi, which is where I'm from. Hinged art. 4 panels.
In this project I learned how to appreciate and notice the small patterns and lines that are everywhere in the world. It was surprisingly easy to find such lines and patterns without looking that hard or setting anything up.
My first photo is my leading lines photo. While taking photos for my “s” letter project I was walking down an old hallway at my elementary school. I was really fascinated with the architecture of the beams that made up the awning of it. I decided to take a few approaches to photographing the beams, like photographing it down one side and only the ceiling, until I finally decided on the one of the whole hallway looking onto the playground. I went into Photoshop and adjusted the brightness and contrast of the photo as well as I cropped it so I only got one side of the beams. I took the photo with a shutter speed of 1/60 and an exposure of 8.0. When looking at the photo the beams take my eye straight out to the playground because their straight lines cause the eye to follow where they are leading.
My second photo is my repeating patterns photo. I was out for my evening bike ride that I do every other day. I took my camera with me because I was looking for things to photograph. I was biking past a house on the highest hill in my neighborhood since they still had some sunlight there. I was looking at the garages and notice that they all had patterned windows. I pulled over at one of the houses and got really close to their garage. I leaned up against it and took a photo of all of their windows going down the garage door. I loved how I still got the pretty sunset in there while also capturing the patterns of the square windows. I took the photo with a 1/50 shutter speed and an aperture of 25. I took it with such a high aperture because I wanted the windows towards the end to be in focus. However it was getting dark and my photo was a little underexposed so I put it into camera raw and adjusted exposure. I then proceeded to adjust the whites, grays, and blacks in Photoshop. I also adjusted the window saturation and the contrast.
I enjoyed this project because I really got to look at the world and see the patterns and lines that I never notice no matter how many times I’ve seen them. I also used a bad photo to develop my camera raw skills that we have learned over the last few weeks.
This was taken in the afternoon at Lake Ontario. There are multiple lines created by the shadow, the dry rocks, the wet rocks, and the water.
