Another dull morning here - though there is a promise of a blue sky when it can be bothered to show itself...
The Shrine of Remembrance. The inscription on the face of the monument reads "This monument was erected by a grateful people to the honoured memory of the men and women of Victoria who served the empire in the great war of 1914-1918".
I'd taken an evening walk around the Botanical Gardens (that are adjacent to the shrine) and when I came back, the sun was just setting, casting its delicate light over the poppies.
Rarely seen in these heavily farmed areas, but recalled from childhood hedgerows and meadows. Now they are mainly seen as the flowers of remembrance as Armistice Day approaches. Beautiful and delicate - brightly they shine!

If you remember in October we (Paddington and I) visited York and in Stonegate's Original Teddy Bear Shop Paddington noticed a Lonely Bear. Paddinton wanted me to take a photo of him and Lonely Bear. The photo session ended in the train. Paddington decided that all this Bear needs is Family. Our Family!
And He had a Passport already, so there should be no obstacles to travel from one country to another
Bear's name Was Nobody is Perfect.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden. Manufactured by Bukowski Bears
Paddington claimed that this name did not suit the Bear: "All Bears are perfect. We will give him a Proper Name"
After long travelling around finally we reached our home in Latvia. Paddington introduced the new friend to the Family: "This is our new family member and from now on he will live with us."
Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!
P.S. In the photo you see just some members of family.
In the background is Frida, a bear girl from Edinburgh. Frida is a gift from a good friend. Also in the picture there are the twin brothers Leopards. They were the first to support me when I was far away from home. In the picture you don't see Paddington's close friend Matilda, who is currently seeing a Mouse doctor.
I was riding my bike in Orlando Florida when I seen this mural dedicated to remembering September 11 it was very big on the side of a gas station I took a lot of pictures of it but the eagle was the number one thing I wanted to use I tried to do my best to honor the original mural . Today is Memorial Day. The day we remember and honor those who died for our freedom. Freedom isn't free. Taken at the American cemetry in Normandy, France (2010).
In the middle distance of this view from the heights of the Launceston City Park we can see a strange object. It is indeed a cannon, a remnant of the Crimean War (1853-1856). It was manufactured in St Petersburg in 1840, and was captured by the British after the siege of Sebastopol (1854-55).
The cannon was awarded to the citizens of Launceston for raising large sums of money to support the war. In fact Lancestonians raised the highest average contribution of any Australian city. The gun arrived in 1860.
It is from cannons like this that the bronze is cast to make Victoria Cross medals for military bravery to this day.
In relation to the Infra Red shot itself, I find that shooting into the sun produces the most interesting (backlit) results.
Remembering those who have died and those injured today in yet another stupid senseless attack.
Political goals will never be achieved by attacking and killing the innocents.
Westminster, London 22 March, 2017.
“Summer is a period of luxurious growth. To be in harmony with the atmosphere of summer, awaken early in the morning and reach to the sun for nourishment to flourish as the gardens do. Work, play, travel, be joyful, and grow into selfless service. The bounty of the outside world enters and enlivens us.”

Mood: I Will Remember You, The Official Sarah McLachlan
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Remember the good times that we had
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
Clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, oh we can't be heard...
My mood is reflective and I was thinking of this day last summer.
I remember saying on a photo of this series that it was like a Hamlet cigar moment. So because my camera was on a tripod I was for a change taking 4 shots in overlay mode in camera which then blend into one photo and this is another such shot with a more powerful wave hitting the rocks...Sue x
And hey darling sipping that red wine,
All classy, kicked back on the couch.
You smile and I see ya shootin' tequila,
Us shuttin' them college bars down.
And no matter how much time goes by,
And no matter how much we grow up,
For worse or for better, from now 'til forever,
I'll always remember you young.
