I got this coffee mug while I had my white cat, Charlie. The message on it is "If I don't get a treat soon... it's going to be curtains" & the back shows a cat scratching fabric. As Charlie scratched a lot of my home, it seemed appropriate.

This Civil War Soldier of the 14th NH Infantry is remembered annually nearly a century and a half after his death.
Day 159 of 365 (Saturday) - It is fireworks day, but that is not my reason for wishing to remember today. My sister and her daughter came to visit and we all headed to the beach in our coats, wrapped up warm. My daughter couldn't resist a paddle, so took off a few clothes for that, then my son and niece decided to join her. It wasn't long before all clothes had been cast aside. My sister and I looked on, admiring there perfect little bodies and the pleasure they had there in the brief time that the sun shone today. What they are constructing here was later converted into the "hand and feet washer 3000" by my son. This enabled them to rinse themselves off and we could then scoop them in our arms and lift them to a breaker to get dressed on, ensuring they were snuggly in their coats once more. It is moments like this that I truly hope my photos will help me remember.

Not many sunny days to remember in 2012, especially the awful summer months, this was taken in june on one of the few better days, things seem so much better when the sun is shining.

A giant, inflatable turkey holds a sign that says "remember." I really have no idea what this is about. Thanksgivng decorations are kind of rare and usually more muted.
I miss this girl a lot. It's just not the right time, maybe someday, I'll try to get another one. So thankful that she went to a very lovely home, I am sure she is being loved.
One of the many ribbons left on the gates at Newcastle's Sacred Heart Cathedral at the time of Cardinal Pell's funeral. The ribbons were placed by survivors (and their supporters) of child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

Australia is a land of contradictions. In the summer when the rains come, the landscape can be green and lush. During times of drought, it is dry and devoid of color and it truly becomes a “sunburnt country”. Regardless of the surrounding environment, the beauty of nature is always evident.

Saturday 10th November 2018 was the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. It was commemorated in Carlisle with special events around the city under the banner 'Carlisle Remembers 1918'

One reason I hadn't visited the Doodle Bridge sooner is the damage from Hurricane Sandy, last October. Only recently has someone taken chain saws to the Boy Scouts' nature trail and removed fallen trees. I found that the Doodle Bridge was also a bit twisted. The deck of the bridge is no longer completely level.
Debris is still piled near the bridge, in the tributary it spans.
The Run to Remember was started in 2008 at the request of the Chaplain for 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). The race is dedicated to those brave men and women who have given their lives for our country in the post- 9-11 era. Community members were encouraged to submit names of friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have died in the line of duty since 9/11 for recognition during the opening ceremonies and printed on the race shirt.
