Elley got this swim set from my dad a few days ago...I think this is one of the few swim sets we have around the house.
This is my friend Darrell, who left us all too soon last May. He loved going to the Chicago Auto Show with the group that we usually attend the venue with, and I caught him in a pose in front of the Ford truck display a few years back. This year the trip is in memorial of Darrell and we look forward to another grand time of automobiles, photos, and fellowship. Other photos of our trip to the Auto Show can be found on my friend, fellow photographer and auto show enthusiast's photo stream. Check those and other great photos out at:

The Tidewater Veterans Memorial stands in tribute to veterans of all wars and current military personnel. Six years under design and construction, it was completed in 1988 and has received awards for design and public art. The memorial is located on 19th Street across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The Veterans Memorial Park, dedicated to those service members who honorably served their country, is behind the memorial.

Experimenting around with color saturation. A photo of my son, that I took back in 2014! As I remember, he had gotten impatient by the time I took this shot!
I remembered I had some unassembled collage shots of this left over from March when I saw one of sproutgrrl's Balboa Park collages in the TtVeeptych pool.

When I came upon the river, I was reminded of the father I lost to cancer. Many of my most vivid memories of the man are tied to the time he and I spend in the forest near Haliburton and a long walk in the wilderness has always been a way to reconnect with him. While we so often explore the symbiotic relationship we have with the environment in a physical way, we often neglect how emotionally and psychologically connected we are to the land we live in.

An old settler's farm in the Murraylands originally consisting of this stone cottage, two wattle-and-daub cottages with stone chimneys, and a stone shed.
Fridaymorning of january 28 - waking up with the sound of shouting in the streets. Outside there's a massive crowd of uniformed schoolkids filling all the streets towards the central plaza, reciting poems with loud voices.
Is there a new revolution going on ?
No, it's celebration day of national hero José Marti, spiritual father of the revolution and omnipresent as statue or streetname in Cuba. His poems are obliged part of every schoolprogram.
The sound of the nearly military drilled crowd of youngsters gave me a glimpse of the impact and power of a whipped up mass movement.
