the curving dusty red dirt road
leads to the ruins of an old grist mill
on the damp spongy shore of rock creek
that comes down from high
on the surrounding mountains
that look down on the site of the land
where david is buried
he is remembered as young and defiant
and proud of finding this place cool
and comforting in the heat
of a summer long ago

I didn't manage to take notes on this one, so I'm calling the small one Nemo and the big one, Dory. But I don't quite remember Dory ever wanting to chow down on Nemo.

The National Infantry Museum was proud to host the Georgia dedication of Remembering Our Fallen, a new traveling exhibit which honors the 198 Georgians killed in combat since 9/11. Gold Star families from across the state were the first to see the exhibit, and had the chance to hang notes and pictures that will stay with the exhibit as it travels around the state. These families, who have suffered so much, ask only that their loved ones never be forgotten. This exhibit goes a long way toward assuring that. It will be on display at the National Infantry Museum through November 2. Its next stops are Macon and Savannah.

Today, we finally got time to replace Flo's old peach tree in the backyard that didn't survive the last season. After losing Bruno in November, we decided we would bury him there, and plant a dogwood tree. But, as schedules would have it, it took us awhile. Flo was in Tennessee today, so we put her on a video conference to watch us wrestle getting the tree in the hole, and then saying a few nice words to remember our old buddy. This space feels a little more sacred now. Now, we just have to keep Pax from eating the tree. Long ago, Bruno completely destroyed one of two expensive trees we had just planted. Ahh... the circle of life.

I remember now... who I am.
Jumping against other people.
Screaming "All Hail The New Flesh" with all my voice, with all my passion.
Screaming lay down your soul to the gods rock `n' roll and the Venom is mine...
Dancing under the Pulp Fiction's soundtrack.
Drinking beer, a Tankard of beer.
Headbanging 'till my hairs goes rasta, 'till my neck feel the pain, 'till the song goes on (forever...forever...)
Singing Smiths 's songs between Venom and Destruction riffs.
Kissing under The Call of Chtulhu
I'm still alive... and well
