Saturday 10th November 2018 was the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. It was commemorated in Carlisle with special events around the city under the banner 'Carlisle Remembers 1918'

Remember when we found that Dam Chicken?
She looked awfully cute in the bathtub, the following day...
We didn't really stick with Dam Chicken as her name, most of the time - she became Damsel. It seemed to fit both the "Dam" and the "in distress" part of her rescue.
Except.
She ... isn't.
A she, that is.
We suspected, last week, when 'she' conducted a little "biology lesson" with one of the hens... but ... there are lesbians in nature, so ... maybe not. But "her" comb was getting bigger, and in general Damsel seemed a whole lot bigger, and struttier ...
And then today ... he crowed in response to the rooster down the street.
So our two roosters have the girliest names in the flock: Roxie, and Damsel. I'll try to get a picture of him soon - he's definitely growing, and I think he's going to be quite pretty. He must have been quite young. We just thought it was a hen - but now we know it was a young rooster. At least now we have an idea of how old he is!

sad news, the death of Steve Houghton.
Steve was a good Leicestershire Police, PCSO based here in Oakham until about 6 years ago when he became ill.
Steve also took brilliant photographs of the local wildlife and shared on his website and Facebook.
I am hoping his family will keep his Facebook page as a tribute.
Steve took photos of anything that flew and slithered, quite a few times I walked or cycled to Ketton Rutland, in the hope of capturing a similar image of what some might consider unwelcome residents, the snakes. I am not sure how close up to them Steve got, I know he had some giant lenses, mainly to photograph the aircraft. Steve also went out in his wheelchair and photographed great images of the wildlife at Melton Country Park. I send my best wishes to all Steve's friends and family and share some Images of some of the time Steve served here in Oakham the earliest photo is from 2009. Steve was very proud of his role within Leicestershire and Rutland and very proud of his son, who is a Leicestershire Police officer. Steve for a long time patrolled the street of Oakham with PCSO Jay Cooper who went on to become PC Jay Cooper.
Play a song on the Juke Box and still remain sitting in your seat. They have one of these at almost every booth.

Lots of bright lights in this place so it was hard to get the greatest shots - plus I was using my Canon P&S
This place has the best fried chicken - Not on my diet, but every now and then one has to treat themselves :-)

Memorial Day Ceremony is the annual event held to honor and pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces, "who gave their all."
The Tidewater Veterans Memorial stands in tribute to veterans of all wars and current military personnel. Six years under design and construction, it was completed in 1988 and has received awards for design and public art. The memorial is located on 19th Street across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The Veterans Memorial Park, dedicated to those service members who honorably served their country, is behind the memorial.

Bruises and cuts inside and out?
No. I refuse.
Barley hiding on the floor of the car. Funny fact about Barley... he never barked. He was very quiet. I think I heard him bark once in his entire life.

Hand made book reusing another book.
Deptford Market Design Challenge 2007.
The challenge was to select one of the second hand objects collected by Raw Nerve from Deptford Market and reuse it. I chose The Hamlyn Animal Encyclopedia as i had a copy of it when I was a child.
Exhibited in Deptford Design Market Challenge exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall during London Design Festival 2007.
