cool temperatures between sunny spells this time of year can leave honey bees stranded and unable to get back to the hive. I often give them a drop of thick syrup and if they dont revive then i bring them in to warm up (in a purpose dedicated Chinese container in the kitchen!).

The Anna's hummingbirds are plenteous, although today I had a Rufus stop by for 10 seconds. Find it challenging to catch these birds as they move so fast

Water from a refrigerated bottled water dispenser. With temperatures forecast to rise over this week to uncomfortable levels where I live, plenty of cold water is the simplest, best refreshment there is.

Las Chapieux es un pequeño asentamiento alpino con un grupo de edificios alrededor del albergue conocido como el Auberge de la Nova. Se encuentra en el Parque Nacional de la Vanoise a aproximadamente 1.550 metros sobre el nivel del mar y situado casi en la cabeza del valle desde Chapieux que discurre en dirección sur hacia la localidad de Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Las Chapieux es una parada del famoso Tour du Mont Blanc, y un punto de avituallamiento de la carrera anual Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc.
Las Chapieux is a small alpine settlement with a group of buildings around the lodge known as the Auberge de la Nova. It is located in the Vanoise National Park at approximately 1,550 meters above sea level and situated almost at the head of the valley from Chapieux which runs south towards the town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The Chapieux is a stop on the famous Tour du Mont Blanc, and a refreshment point for the annual Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc race.
Nothing quite like a small falls to refresh and recharge one during a hike. This little rill was near Sol Duc Falls, one of the PNW's most impressive falls.

Sad that much of Washington state is burning up. Wicked firestorms destroying for a generation some of our most beautiful forests and lands. The air is thick with smoke.
May those struggling so hard to get this destruction under control prevail soon.
