This was a shot from the most amazing beach I've ever been to. Wharaiki beach. You walked along a track among sheep for 20 minutes at the tip of the south island, before coming into this little river where baby seals sleep and swim. Then onto an amazing windswept beach with little ripples in the sand and a massive stone arch only a few metres from the shoreline. We walked along this beach after this amazing rainbow near the arch, only to find more eroded rocks, arches and little crevices. Definitely coming back to this place.

A female Sarus Crane (Antigone antigone) was taking bath in its natural bath tub while adjusting her drenched out feathers to its perfect positions by the beak. The water layer was her mirror for the decoration. The sequences of actions were mirrored perfectly in the blue water. I love the sweet pose, the head tilt just touching the water layer and so her reflection. A perfect synchrony in natural condition. Pics was taken from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India.

The reflection of leaves and tree branches on the undulating surface of the river.

Reflection is a flower of the mind, giving out wholesome fragrance; but revelry is the same flower, when rank and running to seed.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

Reflections on the water of the Fraser River by Crescent Island.

Animas Forks is located at 11,200 feet above sea level high in the hills of the San Juan Mountains along the Alpine Loop. It usually takes a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to conquer the unimproved roads to the ghost town. The mountain ghost town comes with a wealth of history. It was established as a mining town in the 1870s, prospered in the 1880s with more than 450 summer residents, and was abandoned by the 1920s.

Prospectors discovered gold and silver at Animas Forks in 1873. Colorado logistics magnate Otto Mears built a wagon road to this mining destination in 1875. Mears’ road ushered in all kinds of men seeking the mountain’s precious metals. Business and mining boomed until a fire in the hotel kitchen destroyed 14 buildings in October of 1891. Even though the town was rebuilt, it never fully recovered. The silver market crashed in 1893, and that drove even more folks out of town.

The town's silver mines near saw several ups and downs for the next few years. Mears extended the Silverton Northern Railroad to Animas Forks in 1904 and the city’s Prince Gold mill was built the same year. However, it only lasted until 1917 when the equipment was moved to Eureka. A faithful few men worked the gold and silver mines nearby until the 1920s, but falling metal prices drove the remaining miners away by the 1920s

Reflections of the evening light on plastic sheeting winterizing a window. I love the visual complexity of the pareidolia drama unfolding in this image (especially the cyborg in the center), its nicely balanced composition of thirds, and the painterly colour palette of muted mauve, blues, browns, and subtle golden halations. An image worth lingering over when seen full screen.

Well… I returned home safely this morning from my two week photographic workshop on the Isle of Skye… with 68 Gigabytes worth of images!!

Although we had plenty of rain and loads of midges… that certainly didn’t prevent us from exploring every corner of the island… and shooting all the most iconic locations… in the best possible light!!

Here is one of my favourite shots from my most favourite iconic location of all… the Old Man of Storr… reflected in a tiny loch… and captured just as the clouds, light and reflections were looking at their very best.

I’d like to thank Jenny, Anne, Peter, Tom and Steven for sharing all these unforgettable experiences with me… I had an absolute blast shooting Skye with you guys (and girls)!!

One of the largest American flags. The Mount Rushmore flag measures 45 feet by 90 feet and weighs 300 pounds. It’s currently folded in a glass case with a star and a stripe on display. I captured reflections of Lincoln and Jefferson from the display across the aisle.

No multiple exposure, just good old fashioned reflections and a good eye. 😃

I'll be a little bit absent these days; "a time of reflection"

Reflections on a calm morning at Jackson Lake.

What attracted me to this scene, apart from the mirror-like quality of the water, is the burst of orange in the middle of the frame.

I’ve bought a little M43 camera to use in those situations where dragging a DSLR and several lenses along doesn’t work that well. Yesterday I took it for a little test in downtown Oslo. The water had been shut off in one of the fountains near the National Theatre and it had lots of little puddles with different kind of reflections, so I decided to play around with that.

While in Agra I was able to hire a car and visit Mehtab Bagh along the Yamuna River. The clouded sky created some amazing reflections along the river.

Reflection in a small pond at the head of Rawson Lake

A red squirrel pauses for a moment by a small pool of water. Fortunately most of the ice had melted in the afternoon sun so the reflection came out.

On a late August trip to the French Alps with BenjaminBarakat, Sadeq Hayati, and Jeremy Singer, we discovered a tranquil mountain lake that acted as a flawless mirror. Orion rose about an hour before dawn, but it wasn’t until after the end of the dark night that it aligned perfectly above the peak of Aiguille Verte.

To capture this alignment, I kept shooting well into the astronomical twilight. By then, the sky had turned a deep blue, and the growing daylight softened the contrasts. Yet, thanks to my narrowband filter, I was still able to record the vivid red hydrogen emission nebulae - visible even in the reflection.

The interplay of red and blue hues, accented by the faint yellow glow on the horizon, makes this one of my favorite images from that magical night.

Done for the Macro Monday theme, "Reflections." The glass containing the sand is just 2 inches long. And, this is a bit late; I've been busy with computer stuff. Anyhow, HMM!
