After about 2 weeks I finally have the photography software loaded on my new computer. This will be the next set for processing - it will appear first on patreon.com/kotchka - go subscribe to support my photography.

Damn you Cloud. 😂 Jisoo is one of the amazing singers and dancers of the hot Kpop group Blackpink. :) What's interesting is that during the detailing phase of the face while zoomed in, when I zoomed out, I was taken aback by what I'm seeing, I said: hang on, I met this face before but that was a million years ago 😂, must've been my subconscious working in auto mode, lol, or either this is a reincarnation case or a Kaguya theory. Very interesting coincidence. Background drawn in reference to the Cherry Blossoms at Meguro, Tokyo. Perspective is equivalent to a 24mm lens at close range. Drawn using ps cc, cintiq 24hd. Next drawing will be Rose' as... Drawing timelapse video tutorial found here: youtu.be/1Fdl5k5Bvng

Day 118/365 "Finally its Snowing"

Today we had light snowfall. It was so pretty to wake up to. Unfortunately it didn't stick around for very long.

Archway Islands from Wararaki Beach after sunset

Our little one is headed down the trail. And I am tempted to run after her... But as the only bright red object in my field of vision, I am not worried I won't find her.

This picture is #18 in my 4th round of the 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

On Friday evening I took my 11 year old son into London to look for super cars. It reminds me of my youth, crusing round the bush looking for wild and exotic animals. Except here it is wild and exotic cars. We'd had a very fruitful walk round Nightsbridge and a pizza for dinner and decided to head down to Mayfair on our way home. We jumped on the tube where I spotted Jamie here standing further up the carriage.

Now normally, if I'm out photographing strangers, then that's what I do, at the expense of all else. But there was something about her style that I was totally taken by. I smiled when I saw her leave the train at the same station as us. I smiled even more when I saw her ahead of us, taking the same exit. As she turned up the same street as us I decided that fate had given me enough of a chance and I had to do something about it. My lad had been warned that this might happen and to be fair, he's seen it a few times before so he was un-phased when I accelerated away from him to overhaul Jamie who was walking along quickly, clearly on a mission. This was one of those approaches where I thought I had no chance because she was moving quickly but after I said that I explained why I was stopping her and that I thought she looked so cool she broke into a huge smile and happily agreed to pose.

While she was on the tube, she'd had her jacket over her shoulders but with her hands out of the sleeves. As she left the station she'd put it on properly so here was the tricky bit. I told her that I really wasn't stalking her, but I had been on the same train as her and that I'd loved how she'd had her jacket. She seemed unconcerned by this. Perhaps having a young child in tow allows one to get away with more. Everyone should have one! ;-)

So we snapped a couple of full length shots using the nearby pillars as a vanishing point and then grabbed a quick head shot because I can never resist that. Because I was photographing cars, I had on my Sigma 24-70mm which isn't really sharp enough for portraits and it distorts quite a bit. It's not that bad really but I'm spoilt by my 85mm! So I had to do a bit more sharpening than usual and used the lens correction from Light Room which I don't normally bother with. Shooting at 1000 ISO didn't help the IQ but I'm happy with how this has worked out. I couldn't choose between the two different shots so I did a diptych for the first time in ages. Working with two 24MP images in one file on Photoshop brought it home to me how badly I need to invest in a faster computer!!

Like me, Jamie is from Cape Town in South Africa. She picked up my accent right away. Turns out she is from a suburb called Camps Bay where I lived for a short while in my teenage years. Small world!

Thanks Jamie, it was great meeting and photographing you. Please get in touch if you'd like copies of the pictures.
