More raw MP4 video from 25 August 2010 of Semipalmated Sandpipers at Evangeline Beach, Nova Scotia.

Amazing aerial acrobatic show by migratory sandpipers at Evangeline Beach, Nova Scotia near Grand Pre and Wolfville. These shore birds arrive here every August and stay for about a month to feed on marine animals found in the vast intertidal zone. The Minas Basin is part of the Bay of Fundy which has been nominated as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. I grew up at this beach, so to me, these birds are like old friends who come to visit each summer. This year there were 100,000s of them, and probably the most I can remember in my life time. The point of view of this video is that of me swimming in the water with my waterproof camera at extreme high tide during the August full moon. Swimming while the birds zoom around your head looking for dry land to roost on is a magical experience that I thought I would share with you all.

Another really cool video by me from the same day:

I was taking pictures of the flowers in Lafayette Square when this small dragonfly entered my frame and landed on the flowers. It stayed remarkably still for several minutes. I guess it wanted me to take its picture and post it on Flickr.

Many thanks to Vox Sciurorum for the ID! These were very thick along part of the boardwalk in a swampy area of Allegany State Park.

The Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden: Red Dragonfly

Looking back at Ottawa from the Gatineau side of the Alexandra bridge. Taken in November 2007.

In the distance, you can see (from left to right):

1. Chateau Laurier

2. The Rideau Canal Locks.

3. Parliament with the Centre Block and Peace Tower, along with the Parliamentary Library in the foreground.

"The Starship of the Imagination Returns" or "Carl Sagan is Alive and Well!"

This in-camera video follows the adventures of some dandelion fluff floating on the surface of our pool.

When shot upwards through the water from underneath, it looks like Carl Sagan's starship of the imagination has returned. Dr. Sagan's book and PBS series "Cosmos" inspired me as a kid. It was a groundbreaking series and expanded my mind in so many ways.

Tourism inspired video for New Brunswick.

NOT recommended for people with epilepsy, or who get motion sickness!

Shot with my Panasonic Lumix FZ28 digital camera in movie mode.

Shows a high speed drive in reverse from Moncton to Cape Enrage, New Brunswick.

Uses two types of stock music: a rockin' out, driving tune and a calm, ethereal sound for the finish.

This dragonfly thought he was hiding, but it was so obvious he was there because of his bright wings. Sometimes we try to hide from God, but our darkness sticks out like a sore thumb. We can never hide, but it would be better for us to realize He only looks for us, to have fellowship with us. He wants to have a close relationship with us, and intimate sharing of our minds, souls, and spirits. He wants to fill us with His love, power, and wholeness. We are completed in Him. Hope you find that completeness today. God bless you.

Sony Handycam analogue Hi-8 video shot around downtown Ottawa, Ontario on Canada Day (July 1st) 1997.

Shows Sparks St, the National War Memorial, Chateau Laurier, Parliament Hill / Wellington St., the fireworks over Parliament Hill (next to the Peace Tower), and finally ending with the walk back down Elgin St. in the big crowd.

Some of my earliest video work, not always the best. Most of the video is pretty good, I wish I had a better quality camera to capture the night time fireworks. This is video that I did long before I dreamt of Red Dragonfly... =)

Coyote Hills Regional Park was dedicated to public use in 1967. Comprised of nearly 978 acres of marshland and rolling grassland covered hills, this busy park is located along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, northwest of the cities of Fremont and Newark.

This one is definitely a Scarlet Dragonfly, Crocothemis erythraea,

also known as the Scarlet Darter. The male is bright red, the female

and youngsters are yellowy-brown in colour, making this one a male.

Video of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario on Canada Day (July 1st) 2010. Unfortunately, there were so many people on the Hill that day, all I could get was video of the giant screen nearby.

The riders and horses were doing the performance about 100 feet away from where I shot this from.

I have always wanted to photograph a dragonfly, but they are hard to catch. I had never seen a red dragonfly, so was pretty excited when this one landed near our campsite. I was surprised that I was able to move around and capture several shots while he stayed still.
