Its really taking a lot for me to post that picture here as I'd like to hit the delete button on it and all similar pictures. But I know that it is a reminder of where I've been, what I've accomplished and how much I do not want to go backwards. So I post this today as a celebration. It was a year ago that I walked into the best damn dr's office in this small town and finally found someone who would listen to me. I had already lost some of the weight by then, but alone. She helped me find the motivation to keep going as I was ready to completely give up on everything. And I do mean everything. I was spent with life and fighting daily with pain and my health issues. At this point I had been sedentary for four years, unable most days to walk further than a few steps at a time. The pain was too great. I lived my days in bed. Not living. I was miserable. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Something had to change or I was just going to wither away inside myself. So I changed. I got up. I made a few more steps. And walked. And walked. And walked. And now I walk daily. The girl who could not move around her own home now walks three times a day, every day outside the home. I'm active in life, living every day. Even the days my disability sets me back. It's more than just weight loss. That was just a plus, really. As was all the little milestones that went along with that like getting to buy clothing off the regular sized racks. What really happened, was for the first time in my life, I came alive. And I like it. I don't want to ever go back to where I was before, now that I know how wonderful living feels.

valerigail: @la_v_n_rose thank you! I walk in healing every day. Some days are easier than others. I've got a lot to work through unfortunately. Each step I take seams well worth the journey though so that has been good. I've learned a lot of life lessons lately. As for beauty? I don't know yet where I sit with it. I struggled for do long with self image that I'm almost indifferent now. I just want to be me. Beauty or not.
valerigail: @lisamjw thank you so much Lisa!! I do, scared but proud. I know looking at my post count that it might be hard to believe but I'm a very shy reserved person. But I learned a few years back that journaling open for others was healing, both for me and for some of the readers, so that's why I decided to get over myself again and post. Lol. I hope that my story can touch the life of at least one other person and spark change or a glimmer of hope. I felt so very alone for so very long, still do actually. I want others in a similar situation to know they aren't alone and they can successfully climb out. Someone did.

valerigail: @salas1021 thank you. You have no idea how much that means to me. My photography is a life saver for me, keeps me grounded. When I say it's therapy, I'm not joking. Lol. I do my best thinking while I'm on a photo walk. Sharing my work has become just as wonderful. I used to keep it locked up on external drives, having all kinds of reasons why. But now I can't imagine a day going by without sharing here. I love it!

Alligator peplum shirt. Inspires by Kitschy Coo. Used Dana Made's shirt tutorial and drafted my own peplum using Burda Style's tutorial.
This picture was caught on an automatic game camera in the woods. We are trying to decide what it is. So far we have one vote for dog, one for a bear, and my sister says it's a black panther (even though there really is no such thing). Oh, my other sister says it's the ghost of my Bouvier that disappeared when I lived about a quarter mile from where this shot was taken.
In a portico leading up to St Peter's Square. Somehow the opening in front and its view of St Peter's looks as though it could be a trompe l'oeil.

The ongoing love/hate relationship continues.....
A lot of people have a love/hate relationship going on with this girl. Either you love her (she's cute, great fashions, that posable body) or you hate her (that HUGE head, that terrifying smile). She originally started as Barbie 2002, a gorgeous, glamourous beauty and slowly morphed into the ArtsyICanBe...Nikki that we know and love and/or hate today.
So here's to the girl, who we quite don't know how or what to feel about, and yet we buy her all the same. The girl that I call DesireeArtsyICanBe...NikkiBarbie2002. Really?.......
