Manta Rays at Mantapoint, Nusa Penida. Very impressive to see these 3m. wide fish swim beside you. Too bad the water was a bit murky but the experience was awesome!
Today we joined a film crew and went looking for Manta Rays. I ended up swimming for miles with this one who seemed to become my friend and kept coming very close!!
Ray House - A Confederate field hospital during the battle. Union General Nathaniel Lyon's body was brought here at the fighting's end.
On August 10th 1861, Union and Confederate forces fought fiercely for control over Bloody Hill in which the Southerners eventually won. The Battle of Wilson's Creek opened the Civil War in Missouri, which would end up being ranked the third most fought over state in the nation.

Rays Rest is a very popular freedom camping spot. being just south of Auckland it is handy for travellers to stop for a night or two on their way south or on their return.
Day 266 of 365: "Ray of Light"
My brother-in-law actually pointed out these sunbeams that were happening behind us we were waiting for the sun to set so my nephews could start their fireworks show for us.
I never got the fireworks photographs I wanted, but between this quick sunset and the full moon last night, Ma Nature put on a dazzling display of her own.
The farm in this shot is just west of my parents' place. it's becoming a tradition to shoot it during our family campfires as it just feels like the epitome of the midwest.

I was attracted by this ray of light through the forest. The leaves are still a little bit wet, what makes them colorful.

Mantas seem so relaxed in their environment, they have very few predators and none appear to be around this area of the Maldives. Its almost like they are performing a dance of some sort. its mesmerizing.
The Makro - where you can buy food in bulk - also sells sting rays alongside giant Mekong river catfish, frogs, squid and every other kind of sea creature you can think of. Leif begs to visit this section everytime we go - not to buy just to ogle and poke.
Atlantic Electric Torpedo Ray (Torpedo nobiliana)
This roughly 5-feet long creature washed ashore on Ellis Landing Beach, Brewster, Cape Cod Massachusetts.
This was roughly a week after Hurricane Sandy passed by. The creature's eyes and nostrils have been eaten.
