A lot can be said about the iPhone, and there is constantly one aspect or another of it being debated. What's irrefutable though is the built in camera. It really really really sucks.

What you're looking at was a lovely all-sky red and orange sunset.
However, the iPhone camera has absolutely no center weighted exposure. As a matter of fact it seems to take every darn pixel and check for exposure because you will almost always, end up with a lower than wanted exposure. Note that there's absolutely no manual exposure compensation of any kind either, which most old cameras do with ease.
The noise isn't too bad - at least not worse than 3-4 year old mobile cameras, but the camera is _really_ slow and you have to learn to keep holding the camera at the target a while after you hear the shutter sound or you might end up with a blurry picture of your own feet.
Also, auto white balance seems to be totally out of the picture. No matter what I take a picture of I end up with at least a slight blue tinge or as in this case *gestures up to the pic*. I can only speculate at Steve's possible infatuation with Smurfs.
Combine this with a slow starting app, the lack of a physical button to push and absolutely no digital zoom and this is the second worst camera-in-phone I've ever used. The first one was the Sony Ericsson Z530 which was horribly grainy. Even my old Sony Ericsson K750i (Released in June 2005) took ten times better pictures.
Most of the problems with the iPhone camera can be fixed in the software. The question is if it ever will since Apple seems to blatantly ignore the pangs of their users when it comes to supporting the very basic expected functions.

Note, I am not an Apple hater, nor am I a blind fanboy that cry over the "injustice" of talking about the bad sides of a product. It's just that - a product like any other. The iPhone is a lovely toy in many ways, but it doesn't come close to have that feel of a finished product.

I welcome the increase in the number of new homes in Norwich - but not at these prices! I think the £99,995 is if bought under the Coalition's 'FirstBuy' scheme. It would probably be £125k without it.
As I understand it 'FirstBuy' will stump up the deposit for first time buyers who must buy a brand new property under the scheme. It is also a loan too, so the new mortgagee will have to pay this back to UK PLC while still paying the mortgage, ground rent, service charges and those mandatory household bills!
£100k ought to buy a decent 3 bedroomed townhouse in this city, where the average salary is around £23-25k a year.
I've seen the floorplans of these places and they are tiny with little in the way of storage space. Well at least the 'Big Yellow Storage' place just around the corner! Like some people I'm not keen on open plan kitchens either. Yet 'open plan' seems to be a must for new apartment blocks.

like recently for an MTV interview she did with the jonas brothers, you could so tell there was tension in the room. i don't know if it was right after her break up with joe, but she was being rude.
and has anyone else noticed how she's been flaunting pictures of herself on twitter lately? its like she posts them to show how 'hot' she is and to get compliments from her fans.
what happened to the girl that said she wouldn't change for anything?
i still love her songs and think she has an amazing voice, im just not a fan of HER anymore.

Earlier this year, both the local Dorset and some national 'redtops' like the Daily Star and The Mirror ran their almost annual "Bug Invaders!" "creepy-crawly horror crisis" "holiday makers afraid to go to the beach" "killer rash" "council inaction disgrace" stories about the Brown-tailed Moth (Euproctis chrysorrhoea).
ok, so for a short time in spring, their caterpillars emerge from winter 'nests' and if you touch the hairs of the caterpillar, you will get a rash. Then they pupate into adults, lay eggs and turn into the caterpillars you see above that are building their winter homes in which to basically hibernate....and so the seasons turn.
But of course in our modern world, stupidity and the blame culture is far more common than a basic knowledge of how ecosystems work, let alone how those ecosystems have been completely messed up by intensive agriculture, pesticides, herbicides, not to mention our incessant urban sprawl. So, the local council needs to eradicate these caterpillars one way or another, insecticides, fires...hell, let's NUKE the blighters. That'll sort 'em! Oh and whilst at it, the councils should also destroy every single patch of those pesky stinging nettles; send boats out to net jellyfish; mist the air with bug spray to get the flying ants; make bee hives illegal; employ a tic officer to protect tax payers from tics and if in America, call Monsanto in double-quick time to deal with that Poison Ivy.
To put it bluntly, peoples' lack of personal common sense concerning the natural world drives me crazy. I'm not going to stop you if you want to roll about naked in nettles. Go ahead, stick your hand in that wasp nest. That'll make you whoop and holler. Heck, why not pick up that Rattlesnake and get a selfie! It might be your last.
Use common sense and any wildlife knowledge you have and as a general rule, with some exceptions, leave wildlife in the natural world alone and it will do the same to you.
I finally got around to clearing out the files from my old Samsung Z500 so that I could officially "retire" it, and I found some old videos of the cockatiel I left behind in Tasmania, Sugar.
I miss him.
Our family got into the 21st century this week. We all got Samsung Rant cell phones with slide out full QWERTY keyboards, texting and internet access. The two teenage daus are in seventh heaven, while mom and dad fumble through the user manuals and endless on-screen menus. I also got that cute little Motorola Bluetooth headset and went through the process of the cell phone "adapting" to my voice. It's pretty cool to have the headset on, hands free, with cell phone in another room, press a button on the headset, speak "call dad" and it all actually works really well!

People call the number and can comment or complain about what ever they feel like.

In the UK we shower in drinking water, so in my opinion it is inexcusable to buy this unless there is a mains supply crisis.
I won't elaborate on my reasons for opposing the institution of marriage for fear of offending my married friends, but suffice it to say, marriage is NOT for me. I am monogamously committed to my boyfriend of nearly 11 years, but we have no plans for marriage EVER, and kids are naturally out of the question as well.
A colleague at work asked me if my boyfriend and I had an open relationship since we are not married. Friggin' LAWL.
I actually resent such shallow suspicions. Marriage does nothing to prevent disloyalty and in fact some married couples are swingers. That's their preference, of course, and I have no qualms with it.
I also resent the idea that women are expected to WANT marriage. If women want to be single and celibate, or have multiple partners, or be in committed non-nuptial relationships, so fucking WHAT?
The same goes for men.
Who fucking cares what other people do with their lives?

This is just a crap photo I took on my phone ages ago and didn't upload, and do not do these eyes justice at all, but they still look nice even with my bad photo skills :D I was a part of the Dollbakery 12mm small iris group order, these are the colour Moss, but I got to choose between one of two pairs, this one actually has a slightly brown tone to it, it's so gorgeous. In all my years in the hobby I have never owned better eyes.
So in unrelated events, this week has been so exciting and so frustrating hobby wise. After a year of searching I finally find the perfect shell for Pine, so I am extremely happy about that.
Discovered I've been following a recast owner for jeez knows how long (ugh, always remember to check tags from now on), saw another person get sold a recast body as legit, and I had to contact the mods about a super obvious scamming attempt on DoA. It's so frustrating to see these sorts of things become more and more common.

RANT: I'm generally a pretty laid-back person, and it's not easy to ruffle my feathers. But there are some people who really irritate me. For example...
I consider myself to be a decent person, and I take care of my dogs, Luna and Henri. They eat well, they're well-loved, and they get plenty of exercise. They get to go to doggy daycare at least once a week, where they can socialize with other dogs and learn good manners, and I've trained them enough so that they listen to me (most of the time). Luna is still young (about 2 years) and can be excitable, and she has a bad habit of growling (usually in a playful way, although I'm sure other people see it differently), but she's not a mean dog. She's kind of a spaz.
I take them to the dogpark several times a week, usually first thing in the morning. When you go as often as I do, you tend to see the same people (with their dogs) over and over again, and most of them tend to be pretty nice, relaxed folks. But there are exceptions. There's one woman in particular -- I have a not-very-nice nickname for her, but I won't repeat it here -- and no matter how many times I say "hello" or "good morning" to her, she refuses to return the greeting; in fact, she usually just walks right past without even looking at me. I know she's not deaf -- I see her talking to other people. But not me.
Then, this morning, as we were leaving the dog park, another woman was coming in with her dog (a very unfriendly dog who has growled many times at my and other dogs) and a new puppy. Luna saw the puppy, and got all excited, and started chasing the poor dog, all the while shaking her head (showing off the ball in her mouth). The woman got very angry, yelling at Luna, and eventually picked up her puppy and cradled it in her arms as she walked past me. I tried to apologize, and lighten the mood with a smile and some friendly words, but she just walked past, not even acknowledging my presence. WTF?
Luna is part pit bull, and I'm pretty sure the reason we get so many bad vibes from certain folks is because of that. To me, that's just another form of racism, and it's reprehensible. It's like dissing all Muslims because of the extremists among them. Yeah, there are bad pit bulls (mostly because there are bad dog owners), but in my experience, pit bulls can be intelligent, affectionate, awesome dogs.
But to some folks, I guess I'm not worthy of a simple human ritual like saying "good morning" because I have one. And that irritates the hell out of me.
For the most part, I have been patient and supportive of the changes that Flickr has instituted. While as humans we are often uncomfortable with change, I also understand that market share drops when things remain static.
Having said that (for those of a sensitive nature, perhaps its best to refrain from reading further), I am totally p___ed (yes that’s a bad word) with the verbiage that has replaced the word “CONTACT”. So why replace the word "CONTACT" - its an apt description of who we meet on Flickr. Here's the reality: since I have in most case never met my "followers", they certainly are not intimate friends or relatives - they are simply "CONTACTS" who share a love for photography. So why change that word.
As for "FOLLOWING…" Blow it out your butt Flickr, I am not a FOLLOWER, never have been, don’t intend to start now. My super ego prevents me from “FOLLOWING”. So Mr. Flickr, I suggest that you have a talk with your dumbass group of latte slurping nerd techies, tell them that Earl thinks the word is dumb, stupid and offensive and should be changed back to “CONTACT”.
Now for all those who deem themselves as "FOLLOWERS",accept my apologies for having hurt your feelings...
