Few takers with visibility being so limited

A great day out with my old mate Jim taking photos around ramsgate. This is quite pretty but i think i enjoyed Ramsgate's dock area better.

Popped out briefly and had a stroll along the harbour arm at Ramsgate. Gorgeous day but a little breezy.

Colourful steps

Ramsgate Harbour.

I moved round to the life-boat station as the bird was heading in that direction but as soon as I arrived a (Border force?) boat came out and flushed the diver. It flew out the harbour but circled back and appeared to land in the old ferry terminal side of the harbour wall.

Quite a few turned up to see the latest attraction at Ramsgate. Whilst on view most of the time it was too distant to photograph - bread required I think. It did come close for a few minutes though.

East Kent Daimler Fleetline of 1969 at Ramsgate Harbour on 29th July 1985.

For many years the workhorses on the Kent coast lines ,here three 4-CEPS rest between duties at Ramsgate,1574/1507/and 1616 in the jaffa cake livery.31st March 1990.

A recent visit to Ramsgate allowed an evening visit to the harbour. Some of the boats had their Christmas lights on. I must try and get back when there are more lights. The rest of the evening can be seen at - davebowles.smugmug.com/Places-home-and-abroad/Great-Brita...

The construction of Ramsgate Harbour began in 1749 and was completed in about 1850. The two most influential architects of the Harbour were father and son John Shaw and John Shaw Jr, who designed the clockhouse, the obelisk, the lighthouse and the Jacob's Ladder steps.

The Harbour has the unique distinction of being the only harbour in the United Kingdom awarded the right to call itself a Royal Harbour. This was bestowed by King George IV after he was taken by the hospitality shown by the people of Ramsgate when he used the harbour to depart and return with the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1821.

Because of its proximity to mainland Europe, Ramsgate was a chief embarkation point both during the Napoleonic Wars and for the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940. The ferry terminal area is built upon reclaimed land.

Eastonways gained work to and from the developing Port Ramsgate complex during the 1990's, necessitating the purchase of a number of secondhand vehicles. 18 (OJV 118S) a Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR acquired from Wealden PSV in 1994 was found passing through the docks area on a beautiful summer day during August 1996. This dual doored Roe bodied vehicle was new to Grimsby-Cleethorpes in 1977.

My wife and kids and a fellow photographer Steve Pope went over to Ramsgate in Thanet to see the boats Christmas lights.

It was amazing. The image doesn’t give it justice to be honest.

Ramsgate Harbour is one of my favourite places for photography, it has so much to offer...
