Out for a drive to enjoy the new Spring weather. Came across this hay rake that was in a flood of melted snow. Perfect for today's topic.
Almost 500 student volunteers cleared the yards of local seniors and disabled residents on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, as part of the annual Shake-A-Rake community cleanup program. The students – representing organizations such as athletics, club sports, fraternities and sororities, commuters, and student government –raked leaves at 55 houses and a community center in the Hempstead and Uniondale communities that surround the Hofstra University campus.

Be SMART when you rake leaves! Last year I raked up all the leaves and was bagging them when I accidentally bonked my head on a branch, and about a bazillion MORE leaves fell off. SO, this year I bonked my head on the branch BEFORE I raked them up. It took several bonks to get most of them off. You can also find a machine that uses air to blow them into piles for easy clean-up. And I would tell you the NAME of that machine, but I now have a terrible headache, and can't think straight.
and bagging leaves. That's been my life for the past few days!
I'm nowhere near done >.< But at least the leaves make for fun photos :)

About to leave for Tenterden Town with a rake of vintage rolling stock. In the days of 'Hastings Diesels', standing on this platform you could plainly hear the diesels roaring down Mountfield bank and into Robertsbridge Stn, a distance of about 3.5 miles. Today when standing at the site of Salehurst Halt you can hear the whistles of steam locos at Bodiam.

The corral is continually tightened, and the berries are raked into the "pan" where they are sucked into the pump and sent into the seperator.
This tree protects my house all summer long from the unrelenting sun, and keeps me away from running the AC almost ever. But, every fall - it owns me. For the next three weeks it goes like this:
Climb on the roof, blow out the gutters
Rake the lawn.
Build a mountain of leaves for the city to come and get with the big claw thing.
Start over again.
It's exciting to be me this time of year, oh, yes it is!
