Art gallery stairs are the best

With half an hour to 'kill' while M was in the hairdressers I wandered around Town and saw this! And this time I had a camera with me!

St John's College, University of Cambridge.

The moon lurked right at the top of the stairs, waiting for someone to take notice.

This was a morning when I challenged myself to make an image out of a familiar everyday scene. This line of railings will be familiar to people living in Beeston Rylands because they are part of the bridge over Beeston railway station. I was particularly drawn to the way the sunlight was picking out all the details in the ironwork. It's far from beautiful, but I find it interesting how light can create interest in even the most mundane or ugliest of landscapes.

Spring 2018

Abstract impression. Outtake from the Warsaw Foto Maraton a few weeks back. Really fun and a lot of work! 12 images in 12 hours, taken in order, no edits. Images given as tasks 4 at a time and then I had to get to the next position to collect the next 4! This was for an "abstract" task.

Taken at Southbank, Brisbane. Colour version of a previous shot.

My apologies! I normally don't post such "bad" photos of our backyard visitors, but this afternoon I spotted this male, Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker in our backyard, right outside our patio, behind the railing. Raced for my camera a grabbed a few shots through the windows of the back door and the screen door, just to document it. And then it flew away.

Normally, we only see Flickers in October, so when I didn't see one last month, I figured I'd have to wait until next year. But now I'm excited, thinking we still might have a chance to see it again!

Now how about this , something nice !!! Went into Leatherhead for a few bits of shopping and in the centre of the town was the usual market . However on the railings ( not just these ones either ) rows and rows of knitted angels . I did see on South West News during the week a town down that way woke up to about 900 of the knitted angels left on front doors overnight . In the case of the Leatherhead Angels they were the work of " Churches Together In Leatherhead " just left on the railings for anyone to take in the true spirit of Christmas Time .

Sometimes monochromes are black and white...

I haven't managed to get near the darkroom for a couple of weeks now and withdrawal symptoms are kicking in. I even had to resort to scanning some negs in place of making contact sheets.

Taken on a recent trip to the Lake District, playing with depth of field on my MX. Pretty much my first outing with 35mm film in about 15 months.

Pentax MX, 50mm f/1.7 lens, red filter. Ilford HP5+ developed in Prescysol EF, semi-stand.
