this is a clip i cobbled together in quicktime -- it's too fast and the titles are missing, but you'll get the idea. i'll upload a better clip later.

Starlight Xprexx Oculus All-Sky Camera, MacBoook Pro, iMac, SX IO Beta, Nebulosity, QuickTime Pro, Final Cut Pro X. Except for one instance, those are airplanes, not meteors. Time-lapse made from 1000 still frames recorded between 2110 EST on 24 April, 2014, to 0445 on 25 April.
Those with sharp eyes will note that a broad haze appears at about the same time as Vega, and it moves with the celestial objects, not with the clouds in our atmosphere. That is the summer Milky Way.

So the other big controversy involving Snow Leopard, besides the ones with App compatibility, CS3 support and missing features from Quicktime X, is the fact that Snow Leopard defaults to a 32-bit kernel.
I've heard many a Microsoft Fanboy declare that this "proves" that OS X isn't more advanced than Windows (even though you can boot the 64-bit kernel by holding down the 6 and 4 key when starting your Mac), but the simple reality of the situation is that many software developers don't even have Snow Leopard compatible versions of their software yet. What makes these Fanboys think that they would have 64-bit apps too?
So Apple did the only reasonable thing they could do in a situation like this. They updated most of their apps to 64-bit, while forcing Snow Leopard to load the 32-bit kernel by default. The 64-bit enabled apps still run on top without a hitch. Very likely Apple will "turn on" the 64-bit kernel within the next 12 months by default with a dot update, once drivers are prolific. Until then, they will give customers the option. So I don't see the problem here.
Conversely, Windows had no option. You either installed 64-bit or 32-bit Windows, and that was that. Having a simple toggle is more elegant.
An examination of my processes in the Activity Monitor reveals the fact that most of the core Mac Apps have been ported to 64-bit, with the exception of iTunes, which I find very revealing. Is Apple waiting to announce the new version at the special event that has been confirmed for September 9th, 2009?

My second attempt at time-lapse photography: This is me making a turkey sandwich. I shot 285 pictures continuously over the course of three minutes using a Canon Powershot S95, a tripod, a rubberband, and the eraser from a mechanical pencil. Then I used Quicktime Pro to compress it down to 19 seconds at 15 frames per second.

Perpetual Motion of Ideological Affray

The work consists of a 24" iMac displaying, in random order, 40 quicktime movies made with images derived from my collection of newspaper clipped photos of protest situations. Each movie has a unique soundscape built from sounds made with (news)paper, scissors and rock.
The accompanying photo is of the Lord Howe Island woodhen - Gallirallus sylvestris - a flightless bird that evolved on a pacific island uninhabited by humans. It's presence creates an inversion of the usual human observation of the behavior of other animals - the woodhen's intense, unblinking gaze is fixed on the screen, watching the theatre of human folly, the perpetual motion of ideological affray.
The presence of the visitor completes a triangulation of looking - we look at the screen, look at the woodhen, back to the screen where we look at ourselves, the humans....

Always bugs me when companies provide limited support for Mac OS. Logitech is such a company with limited support for the Mac or none at all. As a service to internet, because it's not easy to find whether the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 will work on the Mac my quick observations:
- Supported in Mac OS X 10.5.7 without any drivers.
- No support for autofocus.
- Native resolution of 640 x 480 can be accessed via Quicktime player (Movie recording) but slow with 7fps record speed.
- I tested 7 seconds at 640 x 480 and got a 135MB file.
- AE / Auto Exposure is really good.
- Supported in iChat. Video and audio.
So to round up. Camera works with Mac OS X, but not fully supported or fast.
This movie was recorded with Quicktime player (Good setting of 320 x 240 pixels). The clipping comes from ah-ing too close to the microphone.
FWIW: This camera is officially not supported for Mac OS X or Linux by Logitech. So don't blame me.. This camera is only to be used for off-laptop purposes or custom purposes where a built-in iSight from Apple won't suffice. It's just difficult to find a nice external webcam for Mac OS X nowadays with the prominence of Apple's iSight in most of their mobile products. When you need a webcam for your MacPro or desktop you're dependent of third party products, of which there aren't many for Mac OS X.
