I am on a PACE to start catching up on my editing and posting though I have loads of catching up yet to go. Here is another of the freshly mown Pace farm. I shot several views down at the old Pace farmstead, barn and shed off "Quicksilver:" Road southeast of Logtown. There WAS a Logtown mining camp in the day in Colorado's San Juans. I furtively sneaked up on this shot of a scene after first sight I found on Google maps. The sheds are nearly empty and I wonder if there is more production other than baled hay and bee production. It is mostly a rural and quiet home except for the birthday party they were throwing when I got there. I should have gotten a piece of cake and a brewski before I took off. I learned that this was the original Pace family farm of Longmont Pace Street fame. I did a google search and found the following:
"Charles W. Pace was a well known rancher and farmer who came to Colorado by covered wagon in 1903. He was one of the founders of the National Western Stock Show in Denver, and helped in starting the Boulder County Fair in Longmont. Mr. Pace was born in Adair County, Iowa, on May 25, 1866. When he was eleven, his family moved to Hopkins, Missouri, where he grew to adulthood. It was here that he married Miss Celia Dixon, in 1887. The couple had four children: Fred L., Frank H., Goldie, and Sylvia. The young family farmed in Iowa and Kansas, before moving to Colorado in 1903. They stopped first at Boulder, but relocated to Longmont later that same year. In Longmont, the Paces became prosperous farmers and ranchers." Longmont Architectural Inventory Form
It looks like they just had a barn sale. Is this more of a lawn now or more of a pasture, mowed for fathering hay? The old sugar mill was visible over the distant trees in the last image. Did Pace grow sugar beets for the sugar beet campaigns? Two ugly days in a row kept me in hiding in the air conditioning and work on other projects. The bad sky days have extended into September so far this summer as have the 90s. It is way beyond the normal middle 70 as a normal daily temp.
I remember when I played with mercury as a kid and my finger had mercurochrome painted everywhere. Mostly banished now.

Finally, as there seemed to be no other remedy, our old friend Quicksilver was sent post-haste to King Pluto, in hopes that he might be persuaded to undo the mischief he had done, and to set everything right again, by giving up Proserpina. Quicksilver accordingly made the best of his way to the great gate, took a flying leap right over the three-headed mastiff, and stood at the door of the palace in an inconceivably short time. The servants knew him both by his face and garb; for his short cloak, and his winged cap and shoes, and his snaky staff had often been seen thereabouts in times gone by. He requested to be shown immediately into the king's presence; and Pluto, who heard his voice from the top of the stairs, and who loved to recreate himself with Quicksilver's merry talk, called out to him to come up. And while they settle their business together, we must inquire what Proserpina had been doing ever since we saw her last.

Today's story and sketch "by me" you see the newest plane at the Quicksilver flying school, which resembles
a world war two, Earth fighter plane. But the only resemblance, is the fact that it looks like a plane
it is actually the new "FSU" anion anti gravity "Moontang Flying Machine" built by the craftsman (Alien Craftsmen),
and a few female aliens, who are excellent riveters), there are never robots or android types used at "FSU" Flying Stuff Unlimited. The "FSU" motto", if we can put a seat in it (It Will Fly). Although never mentioned in the sales
brochure was the failure of the anti gravity beach chair. And that is a story and sketch about Rescue Randy, who
was the victim of a flaw in the chairs restraining belt, which let Randy fall into the middle of a beach volleyball
tournament in Huntington Beach, Randy was of course not harmed, and is still dating Hannah, the young lady he fell
upon, but those are stories for another time.

Quicksilver Sea Legs is probably something you would need to reach this stranded boat at Wells-next-the-Sea at low tide.

Two headlands separated by the Atlantic horizon.
Last land for three thousand miles.
This harbour scene is accentuated by the evening sun breaking through and under the rising, grey, ragged cumulus clouds.
Pink sea thrift on the shore, edges a stony, rocky beach.
Broken grey reflections of rising clouds bear testimony to the heat of the day and merge into a golden beam of evening sunset.
The sharp, acute, indigo headlands complete the scene.

I've had this one in the works for a while, but finally finished painting the torso (originally from Electro).
Kwikdamp-gelijkrichters voor elektrische tractie kom je in werkende toestand bijna nooit meer tegen. Deze tractiegelijkrichter in glazen bol is in bedrijf voor de voeding van de elektrische museumtramlijn in Queen Elizabeth Park bij Wellington in Nieuw Zeeland.
De kwikdampgelijkrichter is in 1902 uitgevonden door de Amerikaan Peter Cooper Hewitt. Vanaf ongeveer 1920 is dit type gelijkrichter gebruikt voor voeding van tram- en spoorlijnen met gelijkspanning. Vanwege de vraag naar hogere stromen en grotere vermogens is vanaf circa 1930 de hermetisch gesloten kwikdampgelijkrichter in stalen vat met vacuüm-pomp ontwikkeld. Vanaf het midden van de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw zijn de kwikdampgelijkrichters geleidelijk aan vervangen door halfgeleidergelijkrichters met siliciumdiodes. Inmiddels is aan de toepassing van kwikdampgelijkrichter vrijwel volledig een eind gekomen.
Via een speciale gelijkrichtertransformator wordt de tramlijn met gelijkspanning gevoed.
De glazen gelijkrichter biedt de meest aanschouwelijke en spectaculaire vorm van elektrische gelijkrichting.
Boven de geheel onderaan gepositioneerde kathode of minuspool zien we een door de verhitting groen licht uitstralende plas vloeibaar kwik. Daarboven bevindt zich de geioniseerde gaswolk van kwikdamp. In het centrum van de blauwkleurige gaswolk bedraagt de temperatuur ongeveer 3000 graden Celsius. De geioniseerde kwikdamp geleidt de stroom slechts in één richting. Daarop berust het gelijkricht-principe waarbij van wisselspanning een pulserende gelijkspanning gemaakt wordt.
Dit is een zespulsige gelijkrichter. Dat wil zeggen dat een positieve en een negatieve sinushelft van de wisselspanning omgezet worden in zes in elkaar overvloeiende positieve golven. Er zijn zes glazen uitstupingen als anode of pluspool. Tussen de anodes en de kathode bevinden zich in een tot ontsteking gebrachte gelijkrichter de elektrische vlambogen die de stroom door het gas geleiden. Rond de glazen anode-buizen zijn stalen ringen gemonteerd. Daaraan zijn de anode staven bevestigd die in de gelijkrichter steken. Dikke litsche-verbindingen lopen van de anodes naar de twee plus-verzamelrails die met beide uiteinden van de gelijkspanningszijde van de gelijkrichter transformator verbonden zijn.
Onder de gelijkrichter is een ventilator gemonteerd. Bij een grote vermogensvraag en een daarmee verbomdem opwarming van de gelijkrichterbol wordt de ventilator ingeschakeld.
Door de komst van kwikdampgelijkrichters was men in staat om onbemande decentrale onderstations voor voeding van tram- en spoorlijnen te bouwen. Vanaf dat moment was het mogelijk om lange uitlopers van spoor- en tramnetten op een economisch gunstige manier met elektrische tractie te exploiteren.
Dit exemplaar is van het fabrikaat General Electric. De restanten van het goudkleurige GE-embleem zijn op de handgeblazen glazen bol zichtbaar.
