Yet another quick trip to Europe (my fourth of 2018), I caught up with my mom and sister in Munich. We took a train two hours to Salzburg, Austria, which sits on the German-Austrian Border nestled at the foot of the Austrian Alps. We walked around the city before heading up to the Festung (Fortress) Hohensalzburg. We opted to take the railway instead of walking (Google Maps claimed it was a 5 minute walk but it took us 5 minutes up that walk before we decided it was not worth it and headed to the FestungBahn. The fortress has stunning views of the city below and the rocky Alps nearby.
How do you play cards against someone with such quick hands?
It's hard enought to trust my brother not to cheat at the best of times. This shot makes his hands seem lightning quick... now he's even HARDER to trust!
I've been trying to capture a decent shot of the sparrows using the bird bath for a while but haven't managed one yet. Didn't notice the bird in flight in this picture until I downloaded the photos onto the computer. Happy accident ;)
Viewing in Lightbox shows the water drops better.

Nothing like a quick salmon omelette with sour dough for a mid-week lunch. Love a good natural window light too ;)

Mum threw this quick dish together and we had a short meal because we planned to go over to my uncle's place.
Dad had some stuff to sort out before we left so mum decided to take a nap.
When dad was finished it was already time for AI and he suggested we watch before we left. I tried to wake mum up. She did and she groggily said, "Let's go tomorrow, I'm too sleepy."
So I was kind of pissed but I got over it.
Later that night, as AI was ending, I muttered that we didn't get to go to see Gabe (the baby we really meant to see) and mum said it was dad's fault because he wanted to watch AI when we could have gone to the other house to watch it.
I told mum that, No, it was she who insisted we stayed.
Bottom line is, mum couldn't believe that what I just told you had happened. She said she even argued with dad that we should go.

Oh well.
At least the pasta was nice.
Can you give a two-second estimate of how many pieces of candy there were?
Are you familiar with Glenn and Janet Doman's "How to Teach Your Baby Math" book? (Amazon)
There's a limit to how many items we can perceive numerically at a glance, but the limit can be raised by early training. We did some of that with our child as a baby. Lacking a suitable control, I have no idea whether it made a difference or not... but they're really good at math now.
