I was young with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time about everything. The ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them. Oh, if I could only undo it! (Charles Darwin lamenting his Theory of Evolution, shortly before his death. He did not believe in it himself.)
The discovery of DNA in the 1950s and the subsequent realisation that it is impossible for any living specie to develop beyond the boundaries set by the information in its genetic code, defeated Darwin’s theory of evolution. Unless an evolutionary process can be seen to increase or add information to the genome, which has never been observed, then Darwin’s theory is dead! Without new and extra genetic information, organisms cannot develop any further than that determined by the genome set which was originally endowed. In other words, every specie is fixed within itself, and can never develop (evolve) into another type. God won!

A query flooded in last week asking about the best way to manage teabags throughout their life cycle so I thought I should address it here...
Each teabag should be used five times adjusting the immersion time according to Fortnum's Equation to maintain a steady flavour and should be timed while stirring in the normal direction. In the southern hemisphere and Scandinavia they should be timed while staring into space.
Most experienced tea drinkers will use a hole punch to record the number of dunks to date (hence the expression "Tea Clippers" as first used on the Cutty Sark). It should go without saying that holes are to be clipped in the edge not the centre of the tea bag) It should go without saying, but obviously doesn't - we're looking at you here Australia!
If travelling then a marker pen may be used but do not use washable ink We do not want another "green tea" debacle
After use, the tea bag should be rinsed in cold running water and dried, preferably on a natural line with wooden pegs (as illustrated) for extra character. A plastic line could be substituted if absolutely necessary but do not not not use plastic pegs (middle two weeks of July excepted obviously)
After the fifth use the tea bag should be dried as normal prior to recycling. Natural drying remains best although a hairdryer may be used if it is nearly the weekend or you are above 1297 feet. I think we all know by now that paint stripping heat guns are not the same as hairdryers (are they France!)
Once dry the tea bags should be spurtled and then dropped off at a national recycling point or returned through the Government's stamped addressed envelope scheme so they can be prepared for the export tea market.

I've had a few queries on my sauce bottles previously so I thought I'd get a pack to put up for swaps. They are new, unopened and are actually sold as cosmetic accessories but I converted them to sauce bottles. They can be used to contain tempura sauce, soba sauce, or anything of your choice.
There is no volume indicated on the pack but these bottles are each about 2 inches in height with a diameter of 1 inch.

▶ "Privet is a flowering plant in the genus Ligustrum with conspicuous heads of white flowers followed by black berries. [One of its about 50 species] is Ligustrum sinense (commonly known as Chinese privet, 杻, chǒu), native to China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
Ligustrum sinense is a deciduous shrub growing to 2–7 m tall, with densely hairy shoots. The flowers are white, with a four-lobed corolla 3.5–5.5 mm long. The fruit is considered poisonous.
The plant was introduced to North America to be used for hedges and landscaping where it has now escaped from cultivation and is listed as an invasive plant in southeastern states. It is estimated that Chinese privet now occupies over one million hectares of land across 12 states ranging from Virginia to Florida and west to Texas, with detrimental effects to biodiversity and forest health."

The brown thrasher is the state bird of Georgia, and I'm lucky to have one in my garden year round. As the article says, it usually skulks around in the underbrush, so it's not common for one to hop onto my tray feeder, but this one did. This was taken through my office window.
