This lovely origami model is called "Rain Star" or in Spanish "Estrella de la Lluvia", because when it was created by Aldo Marcell it was raining ;-)

Black-Headed Grosbeak is a migratory bird, with nesting grounds from southwestern British Columbia, through the western half of the United States, into central Mexico. It occurs as a vagrant further south in Central America.
The grosbeak's song is a rich warble that is similar to that of an American Robin, but more fluent, faster, softer, sweeter, and mellow with rising and falling passages that make the song much longer than the robin's. The note is a sharp ik or eek. Both the male and female sing, but have different songs. Wikipedia

An eastbound junk train with Norfolk Southern's Southern Railway Heritage Unit doing the honors rolls eastward past the Wabash searchlights at Wakenda, MO on a beautiful spring morning. We almost said "Screw it" on this train, and left for Kansas City, but after a quick query of the power we decided it best to stick around and capture this nice looking motor in the mid-morning sun.
Built for the Afrofuturism contest over on LEGO Ideas.
Inspired by the Anansi stories of the Akan people of West Africa. Sometimes Anansi is depicted as being a spider with the head of a man. I chose to have him be robotic, with the face of a tribal mask. One of the main Anansi stories is about how Anansi obtained the stories of the Sky-God Nyame, whom I have reinterpreted here as being an all-seeing satellite in the skies above. I also thought it would be appropriate for Anansi to share all of those stories across the world-wide-web. The "web portal" behind him I shaped similarly to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra, Ghana. The pattern on the panels flanking each side of the portal are meant to mimic the adinkra symbol "NEA ONNIM NO SUA A, OHU" ("He who does not know can know from learning").

Its other names are the Unvanquished Turquoise Lake (ma pham g.yu mtsho), Anavatapta, the Ever-cool Lake (mtsho ma dros pa), and the Divine Lotus Lake (padma lha mtsho). It is called the Unvanquished Lake because when one examines all the other great lakes of Tibet to see if they possess the eight qualities of perfect water (chu yan lag brgyad ldan) they are faulty in some respect. It is called Turquoise Lake because its limpid waters resemble a turquoise mandala. It is given the name Ever- cool Lake because it is the palace of the naga king Anavatapta, "Who Never Warms Up."
