Mata Nui, the Great Spirit Robot, supports a torn strand of robotic DNA which bears the maps of every named surface island from both generations of Bionicle lore, including Mata Nui, Voya Nui, and Okoto. But Makuta's dark influence is reaching for the islands and even Mata Nui himself...
To celebrate the legacy of Bionicle, I created this cinematic piece which has over 2000 parts. This epic sculpture was the winner of the 2022 Lego Ideas- 90th Anniversary: Bionicle Theme Celebrations (ideas.lego.com/challenges/5f00c003-5f60-4b18-9d16-fdcf2a3...).

▶ "Cirsium horridulum is a herbaceous annual plant —commonly called bristle thistle, bull thistle, horrid thistle, spiny thistle, purple thistle, yellow thistle— within the family Asteraceae (daisy). It is native to eastern North America on the Coastal Plain from southern Maine to Florida and west to Texas.
The plant is spiny all over [hence its several unpleasant common names] with a tall branching stem that, in the spring/summer, contains several large yellowish or red-purple flower heads, with sharp spines. The plant often grows 2 to 5½ feet tall (½ - 1½ m), and sometimes as high as 8 feet (2½ m). Its leaves are 8 to 24 inches long (20 to 60 cm), also with thick, sharp spines along the edges. Cirsium horridulum is often found along the edges of salt marshes, fields, pastures, shores, savannahs, roadsides, disturbed areas, and waste places.
Cirsium horridulum is a high-value nectar plant for bees and butterflies; the songbirds eat the seeds, rich in oil, and use the tufts of the seeds for their nests. "

Proof of the Nonlocality of a Light Cone’s Surface:
Consider a pair of entangled photons which travel in opposite directions from the origin in the x1, x2 plane.
No matter how far apart they travel, they will remain entangled, meaning that their two positions will define a nonlocality.
Now consider numerous entangled pairs of photons, wherein the two photons in each pair travel away from the origin in opposite directions.
Together, the positions of the photons in all the entangled pairs of photons will by and by define a circle of nonlocality as the number of pairs of photons approaches infinity.
Now consider a third axis which is time. Together, the positions of the photons in all the entangled pairs of photons will define a conical surface of nonlocality.
Ergo, the surface of a light cone is a nonlocality.
The surface of a light cone is thus nonlocal.

It is nearly the season of lavender again. The lovely smell and the deep purple colour of lavender is very addictive, and when the light is right and the sky plays ball it yields a wonderful image. I reached into the archives for this golden hour shot from my local fields.
I will keep an eye on it this year again and if I could raise enough funds may even get tempted for a quick trip to France. I am happy to set up a collaboration with any organisations willing to contribute and seeking for amazing imagery.

In the latest action-packed issue of Spider-Man, our web-slinging hero pursues the notorious Green Goblin! While "hang gliding" high above New York City, Spider-Man's Spider-Sense tingles the moment that one of his webs snaps! Spidey must now hang on to one thread if he wishes to stay in one piece!
This 3D comic cover built in Stud.io only uses bricks that are actually available in their chosen colors. The main detail is that Spider-Man and Green Goblin are bursting out of the pages of the comic book. There are other details waiting to be found.
This is my entry into the LEGO Ideas "Your friendly neighborhood comic book hero!" contest.
A query flooded in last week asking about the best way to manage teabags throughout their life cycle so I thought I should address it here...
Each teabag should be used five times adjusting the immersion time according to Fortnum's Equation to maintain a steady flavour and should be timed while stirring in the normal direction. In the southern hemisphere and Scandinavia they should be timed while staring into space.
Most experienced tea drinkers will use a hole punch to record the number of dunks to date (hence the expression "Tea Clippers" as first used on the Cutty Sark). It should go without saying that holes are to be clipped in the edge not the centre of the tea bag) It should go without saying, but obviously doesn't - we're looking at you here Australia!
If travelling then a marker pen may be used but do not use washable ink We do not want another "green tea" debacle
After use, the tea bag should be rinsed in cold running water and dried, preferably on a natural line with wooden pegs (as illustrated) for extra character. A plastic line could be substituted if absolutely necessary but do not not not use plastic pegs (middle two weeks of July excepted obviously)
After the fifth use the tea bag should be dried as normal prior to recycling. Natural drying remains best although a hairdryer may be used if it is nearly the weekend or you are above 1297 feet. I think we all know by now that paint stripping heat guns are not the same as hairdryers (are they France!)
Once dry the tea bags should be spurtled and then dropped off at a national recycling point or returned through the Government's stamped addressed envelope scheme so they can be prepared for the export tea market.

I've had a few queries on my sauce bottles previously so I thought I'd get a pack to put up for swaps. They are new, unopened and are actually sold as cosmetic accessories but I converted them to sauce bottles. They can be used to contain tempura sauce, soba sauce, or anything of your choice.
There is no volume indicated on the pack but these bottles are each about 2 inches in height with a diameter of 1 inch.

Nice views out over the Kuna Crest at left, massive Mono Lake NE on the horizon with the island in Owens Valley, red cinder Koip and Parker Peaks lined up left center, Alger Lakes SSE at center, Banner Peak and Mt Ritter on the far horizon peaking from behind the Koip Crest right center, and Lyell Canyon W far away at right. Kuna crest proper a hundred feet away at far right doesn't have as clear a view of the Alger Lake basin. Kiop Peak is a 15 minute easy but tiring steep class 2 slope of basketball size talus. Kuna Peak just W is another 15 min mostly easy class 2-3 down and up across a saddle of boulder size talus. Mid July.

and in the center a row of imperturbable reference books,
the ones you can turn to anytime,
when the night is going wrong
or when the day is full of empty promise.
I have nothing against
the thin monograph, the odd query,
a note on the identity of Chekhov's dentist,
but what I prefer on days like these
is to get up from the couch,
pull down The History of the World,
and hold in my hands a book
containing nearly everything
and weighing no more than a sack of potatoes,
eleven pounds, I discovered one day when I placed it
on the black, iron scale
my mother used to keep in her kitchen,
the device on which she would place
a certain amount of flour,
a certain amount of fish.
Open flat on my lap
under a halo of lamplight,
a book like this always has a way
of soothing the nerves,
quieting the riotous surf of information
that foams around my waist
even though it never mentions
the silent labors of the poor,
the daydreams of grocers and tailors,
or the faces of men and women alone in single rooms-
even though it never mentions my mother,
now that I think of her again,
who only last year rolled off the edge of the earth
in her electric bed,
in her smooth pink nightgown
the bones of her fingers interlocked,
her sunken eyes staring upward
beyond all knowledge,
beyond the tiny figures of history,
some in uniform, some not,
marching onto the pages of this incredibly heavy book.
