Most people in the UK will associate Quality Street chocolates with Christmas. I bought a box early from the supermarket specifically so I could use the red and green chocs for this weeks challenge. Apart from an incident with the cat knocking the display all over the floor the shoot went well and all the items in the picture went back in the box uneaten, it’s been sealed up and put away until Christmas.

C-GCEV, a 40-year-old de Havilland Canada DHC-7-103 Dash 7, on approach to runway 33 at Downsview Airport in Toronto, Ontario.
It was arriving as TIN801 (Air Tindi Ltd.) from Thunder Bay, Ontario and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Serial number 63 first flew on October 17, 1981 and began its career as P2-ANN with Air Niugini Limited in Papua New Guinea on November 6, 1981.
Only 113 DHC-7s were produced and today fewer than 20 remain airworthy. It is indeed a rare bird.

Finger Lakes Railway's former Conrail B23-7 No. 1989 shows off its neat Quality touch-up, parked on the main at Solvay NY, prior to installation of radio control equipment which marred its appearance.
It was very windy when we went to see the Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks) at the Futamiokitama Shrine, located in Ise, Mie Prefecture, Japan. According to the Shinto religion, the rocks represent the union of the creator kami, Izanagi and Izanami. The rocks, therefore, celebrate the union in marriage of man and woman. They are joined by a shimenawa (a heavy rope of rice straw) and are considered sacred by worshipers of the shrine.
I placed the tripod at a spot that was protected from the winds, and took 11 minutes worth of long exposure images using an ND filter. Blending those images result in this silky smooth water surface -- all the waves from the gusty wind got smoothed out. The rope between the rocks moved and was blurry, so I blended the rope in from a short exposure image.
I blended 22 long exposure JPG images into a single image, blended the ropes from a short exposure image, processed a balanced and a realistic HDR photo from that, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I saw a Kardashian butt . . . a tall woman arching her back with her hands in her hair. Anyone else?
Today is my birthday. I started the day with mediation in the backyard. When I opened my eyes, a feral cat was in front of me, watching me. There could be a symbolic meaning in this, not sure. A few years back I joined weekly a Mikkyo Zen meditation class at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. We gathered in a traditional Japanese house with tatami floors made of straw. Meditation allows me to find balance and relax, even when the world around me is stressed. In the afternoon I had the closing reception of my Spirit of Japan: Then and Now photography exhibition at the ImageCentral Gallery in Hayward. In the evening we had a nice multi course dinner with friends in a Chinese restaurant in Fremont. Overall, a very nice birthday day. Gratitude.

Mr Spock has to check the furniture to make sure it meets the optimum comfort standards for the whole family, him included.
Stephanie The, likes lighter colors and shades. She likes to stand in well illuminated places. Her sister Kim, on the other hand, stays in shaded areas and avoids the light. They make for an interesting pair to work with.
The Quality Knitting building on John Street in Toronto, built in the Edwardian Classical style. I cannot find the historical details of this beautiful structure. The Quality Knitting company was established in 1956 and is still in production.

Solo Chase Day & Close to Home....
Luv it when the chases are in my backyard. Not having to drive 3 states and 1200 miles in 1 day is relief. I know I'm not the only chaser that says that. This was a phenomenal afternoon of severe weather. When I say this... It means that its photogenic & for the most part not effecting the farms, agriculture, livestock & the human element.
Mammatus before the storm, then I decided to bail on this first storm for the next which was to the north about 25 miles. This storm had wicked good rotation under the base. Even though it was high based it was producing some freakin awesome views.
The storm had overtaken my position and I had a 40 min drive to get back in front of this storm. It was on my tail the whole way back to the I-80 corridor. Though a little late I was still able to get back in front of shelf cloud. The teeth on the outflow were almost scraping the ground. It gave the effect of a funnel but it was not. Been doing this to long to make sure I know the difference.
That was a hoot. Though I waited til the last minute. I got swallowed by the core & had to wait it out. Want to see what its like out in the open with no shelter... This I have also done a billion times. 50mph winds rocked my truck! That was fun!
Finally, I blazed it backed to Kearney for this Storms Finale... Beautiful Sunset light illuminates the exiting storm with a Anvil Rain & Mammatus Cluster ... It was truly a Sight to See!!!!

The wall to the left was built by Roman bricklayers in the 2nd century CE. The floor is a preserved Roman mortar floor from the same age.
Conversely, the wall to the right was built over 1000 years later, in the early 1200s, i.e., the end of the high middle ages.
Now please just compare how these two have stood the test of time, considering that the Roman wall is more than ten centuries older.

A small but pretty creek in a hidden rainforest. A delightful place for a rest or a walk to enjoy the natural scenery of waterfalls, green moss, ferns and plants.
