The view from my canoe while paddling on New Year's Day. That water is at freezing, what you can't see are the ice crystals floating on the surface. I've found that the quality of light reflecting off such water to be the most brilliant. This image is SOOC, shot with no filters.

Dieser Storch ist dabei im alten Mühlgraben etwas Essbares zum Frühstück zu suchen. Sehr erfolgreich war er nicht, die Krötenwanderung hatte Anfang März noch nicht begonnen.
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren.
This Stork was lookig for sth. for breakfast in the old mill race. He was not very successful, the toad migration had not yet started at the beginning of March.

Haworthia obtusa 'Purple Lens' is a stunning cultivar of Haworthia obtusa, a small, succulent plant native to South Africa. It is a popular houseplant due to its unique and eye-catching appearance.
The leaves of Haworthia obtusa 'Purple Lens' are a deep purple color with a translucent quality that gives them a luminous glow. The leaves are also arranged in a spiral pattern, which creates a sense of movement and dynamism.
Haworthia obtusa 'Purple Lens' is a relatively easy plant to grow. It prefers bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. It should be watered sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Haworthia obtusa 'Purple Lens' is a slow-growing plant, but it will eventually offset to form new plants. These offsets can be removed and repotted to create new Haworthia obtusa 'Purple Lens' plants.

The daylily is an amazingly low-maintenance perennial. It’s virtually disease-free, pest-free, and drought-resistant; it’s also not picky about soil quality. Plus, the flower has a long bloom period! Here’s how to plant and care for daylilies in your garden, as well as how to easily propagate them for more plants!
About Daylilies
The daylily’s botanical name, Hemerocallis, comes from the Greek hemera (“day”) and kallos (“beauty”). The name is appropriate since each flower lasts only one day! However, each scape has 12 to 15 buds on it, and a mature plant can have 4 to 6 scapes, which is why the flower seems to bloom continuously.
Originally from Asia, these plants have adapted so well that many of us think of them as natives. Imagine the excitement of a 16th-century explorer cruising the Orient and finding these gorgeous plants! European gardeners welcomed daylilies into their gardens, and when early colonists sailed for the New World, daylilies made the crossing with them.
Despite their name, daylilies are not “true lilies” and grow from fleshy roots. True lilies grow from onion-like bulbs and are of the genus Lilium, as are Asiatic and Oriental lilies. In the case of daylilies, leaves grow from a crown, and the flowers form on leafless stems—called “scapes”—which rise above the foliage.
There are thousands of beautiful daylilies to choose from. Combine early, midseason, late blooming varieties, and repeat bloomers to have daylilies in flower from late spring through the first frost of fall. If you see a height listed alongside a daylily variety, this refers to the length of the scape. Some can reach 6 feet tall!

These Daylilies were photographed at Pashley Manor Gardens. On Monday we drove 10+ hours north-east to Weiser, Idaho to see the totality of the solar eclipse. What an experience!
There is one stretch of a long highway that connects Interstate 80 in Nevada with the Boise area. It takes 3 1/2 hours to pass the Idaho Oregon Nevada Highway, with just a few houses along the way. This straight line is somewhere in Oregon near the Rome State Airport.
I processed an enhanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and the curves.

Monterey at the California coast is always a treat to visit. We went for dinner at the Inn at Spanish Bay, an upscale resort and golf course.

On our first evening in Japan this winter I went to explore the nightlife near Ueno Railway Station in Tokyo. People like to hang out in cozy Izakayas below the railway tracks.
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
