Conrail went on a Quality kick in the mid-1990's and slapped "Conrail Quality" on everything. C40-8W 6149 was delivered in the Quality scheme and was leading train PIBA-7 through Marysville.
Trailing the GE was SD60M 5557 and SD40-2 6487 on that chilly afternoon back in 1994.
This is a poor quality image taken before sunrise in the mist but I’m putting it up as a prelude to the next image. ‘Spotnose’ (left, always game) trotted across to an adjacent meadow to do battle with ‘Bignuts’ (right) and after a vigorous fight Spotnose started celebrate victory as Bignuts turned tail and galloped off. His celebrations were short-lived, however, when Bibnuts regathered his composure turned back around and recommenced battle and eventually won. Defeated Spotnose reluctantly retiring back to his part of the meadow. To turn defeat into victory takes some balls and Bignuts certainly has more than his fair share. (Pics of him to follow) ;0)

We went to Marshall's Beach near the Golden Gate bridge, San Francisco. A woman in a red dress and a men were walking out on the sandy beach and back at low tide.
I processed a balanced, a realistic, and a vibrant HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I hadn't driven on this particular street in 7 or 8 years and almost missed this old beauty tucked away between two buildings. I have a soft spot for Kowalski - I love their products and they allowed me permission to use one of my images of their sign which turned into one of my first images used for a book cover.
Wandering along Quality Row is like time-travelling back to 1844, when Norfolk Island had one of the harshest penal colonies in Australia. While the unlucky prisoners of the era were confined to much bleaker quarters, the foreman of local building works, and other civil and military officials, as well as the clergyman, got to live in these comfortable houses. This area, Kingston and Arthur's Vale Historic Area (KAVHA), including the large Commissariat Store, together with the prison remains (far background) is one part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Australian Convict Sites.

The precinct's picturesque character, historic associations, outstanding Georgian buildings and townscape, and evocative ruins make it a place to remember! It is significant for its association with four distinct settlement periods in one place: the pre-European Polynesian Settlement; the British Colonial and Penal Settlements during the convict era (1788–1814, 1825–1855); and the current Pitcairn Settlement (1856–present).
Several of Marg's ancestors lived here during the first penal settlement from 1788 to 1803! And that makes it a truly special place in our minds.

A freshly painted Conrail Quality heritage unit leads CSX M421 south on the Trenton Subdivision at Manville, NJ. CSX gets a participation trophy for this project. I can appreciate the concept behind this series of heritage paint schemes, but as applied it's just not visually appealing to me. At all.

Here's a poor quality image from an impromptu rainy morning out to meet a friend from out of town. Earlier this year I shared this photo: flic.kr/p/2qLiTJi and now finally she is back operating in revenue service. I need to get out on a nice day but I don't hate the saturated rainy look to this scene, though the brush does annoy me.
Anyway Grafton and Upton Railroad train GU-1 led by GP35 3604 and a pair of MP15ACs has just departed southbound from North Grafton yard as comes off the short causeway over the marsh and Big Bummet Brook at about MP 1 as measured from the north end of the line at the junction with the Keolis Worcester Mainline, the former Boston and Albany.
Still dressed in the image of its former owner this locomotive was built in January 1965 for the Pennsylvania Railroad and was acquired by the Housatonic from Conrail around 1992 when the road expanded with the acquisition of the Danbury cluster from CR. The unit was sent here a couple years ago for contract repair work and underwent an extensive rebuild/upgrade including all new wiring and modular electrical systems.
For whatever reason after spending a substantial sum the HRRC ownership decided not to invest any more money and purchased newly rebuilt GP15-1s and GP39-2s instead. In exchange for outstanding payments due, the G&U was offered and accepted this unit in trade and now owns it.
