Eight hours worth of dots, four to go and am itching to get it in the sea.

Portrait drawing is not my strength so I found an illustration on line to create an example for work using the wood burning tools we have.

A modified guide grip customized for my pudgy hands with an native inspired Blue Jay spirit burning

This cottage sign design is made from ply wood and is doubled sided. It features pyrographic hatching for text and illustration. There are also two red acrylic wineglass inlays. Laser cut edges are also used to frame the sign.

 

This set show the progression from design to construction.

Detail of geometric designs scorched into scale shapes using pyrography tools. When completed design will form part of koi shape on paulownia body board (paipo or imago).

This beautiful French spool knitter was crafted by Dave from mahogany. He has inset four brass pins into the top. The overall height of this spool knitter is 3 1/2 inches and the inner barrel measures 5/8 of an inch in diameter. Dave has adorned this spool knitter with his signature pyrographic (burn etched) leaf motif.

 

Jo has spangled the 5 inch buffalo bone loop lifter with garnets and Swarovski crystals.

Created as an entry for Kaleid Gallerys group show "What I See When I See Me" June 2014. The unveiling is at Sub Zero Festival and all work will be then transfered to the gallery to be on dispaly for the rest of the month.

Some scrap wood strips about to be transformed into a paddle

This versatile drop spindle has been notched and slotted on both ends, and can be used as both a top whorl or a bottom whorl spindle. The 1 7/8 inch cherry whorl has been adorned with Dave's pyrographed leaf motif. The shaft is birch, and measures 9 inches in length. The weight of this spindle is 0.7 ounces.
