A shot I've been after for sometime.

..she has to be the most vibrant gorgeous person in Taiwan. She was selling steamed bread from the back of her pushbike. Bread was delicious, smile, priceless.

Bicycles

Although I don’t ride a bike, well not at least for 40 odd years, there is something satisfying about a bike. It’s solid, reliable (mainly), an art form, it has a place in our society, an environmental champion, a pleasure and a serious competitor.

There aren’t many things in life that fulfil those criteria, there will always be those detractors but for me the bike is a hero.

When I went out on my pushbike ride yesterday, I saw this beautiful tree :)

Sunset over the fields near Stevenage.

SONdelux 12mm dymano built into the front rim on my Giant Defy Advanced 2 by Melody Wheels. Had to use a Shimano adaptor for the fitting of the disc. Now set for audax riding.

Old school mapping reference tree located on Millars Log Road, Jarradale. They are still handy today if you are using a map to navigate as their role is to locate you on the ground against the marked location on the map.

The bike is a Surly Long-Haul Trucker.

On his way to a beach party.

The minimum age at which you can start learning to drive in Australia is 16yrs old.

Junior Motocross buffs start at 5yrs, and racing competitively at 7yrs while other kids their age are still struggling to ride a pushbike.

The pressure to perform, however, can start even before this, as parents, aware of the lucrative sponsorship deals available for promising riders,

monitor the progress of their tots, some as young as ve, on the pint-sized practice circuits at regular club track days.

This photo essay was shot at the Oakdale Junior Motorcycle Club at Oakdale, about 110km south west of Sydney, Australia.

The kids and their keen parents trek from all over for a day of action, excitement and two-stroke engine-revving at this motocross mecca.

The images were taken during the Kings of the Valley weekend and a club day in August, 2007.

A bit of colour fun in the historic city.

At last, leaving the Wattle Trail. Of course, I had to lift the bike over the gate but.

This was part of a brief section of my ride from Jarrahdale to Wungong and return which had me sneaking out of Jarrahdale on the Wattle Trail (a walking trail).

I like to find a site, wait and see what turns up. I'd like to spend longer doing it but it's not always possible. I take what I can get.

Two wheels on my wagon,

And I’m still rolling along

Them Cherokees are after me

Flaming spears, burn my ears

But I’m singing a happy song

well it looks like it could be his, anyway...

I want to ride my bicycle.

I want to ride my bike.

I want to ride my bicycle.

I want to ride it where I like.

Bicycle Race by Queen

Another collection of People, Posters, Bikes and other things that I've seen in the streets plus a few shadows (these are harder to come by). Have a good weekend.

Once upon a time, mail was delivered in New Zealand six days a week, Monday through to Saturday by "Posties" - women and men riding a pushbike in all sorts of weather...!

Those days, however, are now long gone...

These days, the thoroughly modern NZ Postie drives a little electric vehicle (above), but has Service improved as a result?

No...!

These days, NZ Post deliveries are only made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays one week, and Tuesdays and Thursdays the following week - and the cost of sending a letter is higher than it's ever been...!

No wonder people use E-Mail rather than "Snail Mail" these days...!

A very BIG "Thank You" for all your prayers and kind messages; they are very gratefully appreciated thanks...!

And thank you also for your equally kind and encouraging comments beneath my photos...! Without your encouragement, I'd have probably given up on photography years ago...!

What's that secret you're keeping?
