Although I don’t ride a bike, well not at least for 40 odd years, there is something satisfying about a bike. It’s solid, reliable (mainly), an art form, it has a place in our society, an environmental champion, a pleasure and a serious competitor.
There aren’t many things in life that fulfil those criteria, there will always be those detractors but for me the bike is a hero.

There were a lot of storms around last night at sunset and the sky was very angry looking with lightning strikes in the local area.
Too tired after the block of shifts from hell but decided to get back on the pushbike for the first time since lockdown easing and ride down to the National Waterways Museum for sunrise this morning.

First off I don't like this image. When I first started out I loved the OTT look and saturation of HDR images. Only posting it because I'd not done any processing like this for a long time and it's always good to revisit a completely different oeuvre, attempting to add in a little of what you have learnt.
There was a fair wind blowing and I knew I wouldn't get much of a reflection in the water but I'd made the effort to get on the pushbike and ride down here so didn't want to leave with nothing.
Foreground is 5 shots bracketed at +/-0.3EV and merged in Photomatix HDR. The sky is one shot of around 1 minute 40 sec. Then merged together in photoshop. I did try the sky replacement tool in PS and it looked pretty much exactly the same. Finished in Nik Colour Efex 4.
Not my cup of tea anymore but it was a lot of fun doing the edit. If only to remember the horrible haloing I always get, evident at the top of the lighthouse.
HSS!
Some info about the history of the lighthouse.

This collection of images was taken in and around Brick Lane, London. This is an area full of New and Old Architecture, markets, people, graffiti, doors, churches and much more. We went up with members of the Photographic Club, had a brilliant time, never stopped clicking. Thanks to all for the good company. This is the first of many postings.

A bicycle, also called a pedal cycle, bike, push-bike or cycle.
A push bicycle is simply a balance bicycle. The term was used by the Department for Transport in the early 1900s in the UK to refer to bicycles.
Adult push bikes became an issue of concern after Joseph Pennell of the "Romance of the Cyclists Touring Club" suggested that the use of the ‘push bike’ is a derogatory term for ‘bicycle’.
Nevertheless, the term ‘push bike’ is still being used today.

Ridin' along on my pushbike, honey
When I noticed you
Ridin' downtown in a hurry, honey
Down South Avenue
You looked so pretty
As you were ridin' along
You looked so pretty
As you were singing this song
