the puppets are made of wood and cork, are between 20 and 40 cm in height, and are dressed in costumes which, as in the regular theater, enable the characters in the story to be identified. The music (portuguese guitar) and the songs are performed live. The texts, based on oral tradition, present a fusion of erudite theme and popular culture.
I missed seeing ideiafix which was there. Great puppet shop at Male Strana just off the Charles Bridge. My heart sort of belongs to the dragon here though.
[from previous] I got my boss, who is the best boss EVER so I was pretty stoked. XD He likes calico curtains, his family call him Mr Bear (who knows why?!), he loves to mix music and can play with GarageBand well and truly after the cows have come home, left, and come back to get milked again and a few years ago he asked me to draw him a buddha for a cd cover but I never got a chance to. And thusly, DJ BUDDHA was born :D
This is a puppet from the Vietnamese Water Puppet Show in Hanoi, Vietnam. These puppets shows have been around since the 10th century and was the funnest show I have ever seen. The show is in Vietnamese so we had no idea what they were saying but it did not matter, these crazy puppets would come out and do all different scenes. There were around 12 scenes and were very entertaining. We have so many videos and photos of all these puppets. If you would like to see some more just ask me.

I wanted to learn how to sew properly, and get some better skills. Oliver + S patterns are a fabulous way to do this, the patterns are extraordinarily easy to follow and the directions are precise. It’s like doing a little course in dressmaking.
Chinese Shadow Play ,which can also be called Chinese Shadow Puppet play, is one of the most ancient genre of drama in China. It came into being in the Han Dynasty (206B.C.-A.D.220) and has more than two thousand years' history.
Popular among the people of China, Chinese Shadow is a dramatic form which uses lantern to project shadows on the screen. The artistic effect of the play is produced through light, screen, music, singing, and puppet operation.
The puppets in the shadow play are made of transparent leather. Chinese shadow artists first carve out the lines of the design and then dye them in bright colors. These transparent leather puppets become very lively and beautiful under the lantern light.
This is Jon's second puppet. She also has a really cute sundress, but I guess it was too cold to wear it today.

"The Mysterious Traveling Puppet show" with 26 hand sculpted puppets, Piroska the witch and her little witch broom helper. designed for a 1:12th in scale haunted dollhouse or Halloween collection.
I got so engrossed in making this puppet, I forgot to take in-progress photos. To conserve materials, the body was made from scrap foam core and styrofoam with a couple 1 X 2 for a spine. The dredlocks and strings are 99 Cent Store ropes. The hands were from some 99 Cent Store (Love that place) jump ropes. The top one has an eyebolt to keep it on the strings, while the lower hand is free to slap. The puppet was supposed to be a cactus, but came out looking more like a watermellon.
