Shadow puppets come to life behind our light screen in this fun workshop for pupils or teachers with Timezones Science Theatre.
I was originally planning on some bright turquoise buttons but in the end thought I should let the fabric be centre of attention.
This is one of my mom's chinese puppets. They're rather small as you can see in the stitches. It are excellent models to work with.

Well not really . One of my favourite photos from Oxford, an image of puppets being sold in a wayside puppet cart. Ideally the word used for the people peering at me through the puppets would be puppet sellers or vendors, but I guess one can’t be a puppet vendor without being a puppeteer of some sort. On the way back from Ha Long Bay, our tour included a stop at a small village for a Water Puppet show. We had heard horror stories about it being a giant tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised - it was cute, and there was no pressure to buy anything. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_Water_puppets

Kit spent some quiet time playing puppets today. (I was inspired by Lucy Loves?'s fabulous puppet show photo to get out some puppets for Kit to try).
Myanmar. Mandalay.
Myanmar puppets, or Yoke thé, are a traditional form of Burmese marionette theatre that uses intricately carved wooden puppets controlled by a single puppeteer with many strings. The art form dates back to the late 18th century, with performances that can last all night and feature elaborate storylines from epics like the Ramayana and mythological tales. Today, they are both a popular form of entertainment and a common souvenir.
The air compressor backstage during A SLEEPING COUNTRY at Round House Theatre cast a shadow to the left that looked like a dinosaur sock puppet.
