HDR/Photomatix with 3 shots: -2, 0, +2. The HDR really added detail to the puppets. I should have taken a couple of more shots to fill in all of the glare.
To tighten up the picture I cut and re-arranged with Photoshop (notice the 3-pixel blurred edge where I cut each puppet).
Youth Services librarians Carolyn and Gudrun took the puppet shows on the road to East Prairie School in Skokie. Puppet shows are offered through our Classroom Connections, one of many library resources for Skokie's K-8 teachers.
A super cool blog reader sent Schuyler a dragon puppet off her Amazon list! It has a little controller rod that hangs behind your back and allows you to work the mouth, tail, and head in such a way as to blow the mind of tiny mute dragon aficionados.
A purple dragon that is neither Barney nor something from the insufferable Dragon Tales. I am so happy.

Cosmic Characters: Wood Puppets of Asia
January 20, 2019 - May 5, 2019
Bunraku Doll Puppets from Japan
Painted wood, cloth, human hair
The bunraku doll puppets of Japan—also known as ningo joruri—uniquely originated in shamanic tradition and transformed into a popular performance form for the common people. The bunraku puppets are animated by three puppeteers visible to the audience: the principal puppeteer animates the head, while the other two puppeteers animate the legs and arms. The carving of the puppet’s faces requires the skill of a master carver.

Well... yesterday a DIY Halloween puppet show was held at my agency. There were some incredibly crafted puppets and this I believe was the prettiest of them all. While shooting the show I thought about an obvious analogy of some characters there... some are puppets and some are puppeteers. I think it's time to cut a few strings to see what happens...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (evil Halloween laugh...)
Day 336 ~ Puppet Master

Dominic really enjoyed studying puppets last year in theater so he was totally obliging when I asked him to play with the scary teeth monster. I missed the best shot though, when Dominic leaned down and had it try to bite his nose. OMG, that was awesome. No cavities for my boy either. Great checkups today.
These were made for giving away, to children.
The pill bottle on the lower left contains a finger puppet. He looked angry so I put him in a bottle so he wouldn't be mean to the others~:o)

This is only an idea, I do think it looks okay as an image, but I really want to work with it in a dark scary looking place.
